Mr Concierge and the oldest sporting body in South Africa, the South African Polo Association (SAPA), proudly brought the 107th Prince of Wales Cup to Johannesburg for the very first time on Sunday, 17th August 2014.
Previously held in Durban, the Prince of Wales Cup is the inter-provincial tournament where the South African National Polo team is selected. This annual three-day tournament sees all of the top South African players competing in their provincial teams for the prestige of the Prince of Wales trophy, with the national team being selected on Sunday the 17th of August 2014. His Royal Highness Edward, the Prince of Wales, first presented the trophy for the Inter-Provincial tournament in 1925 when he visited South Africa and played in a series of polo tournaments.
The tournament runs in mid-August of every year and is held at the exclusive Waterfall Equestrian Polo Fields. A frequent venue on the South African polo calendar, Waterfall has the capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 people and offers ample parking and security, which makes it the perfect environment for entertaining clients and colleagues or enjoying a great day out with family and friends watching the great game of polo.
The Prince of Wales Cup brought the prestige and glamour of polo with the energy and vibrancy of the city of gold, Johannesburg. The selected team will be facing team USA in the upcoming BMW International Polo Series on the 14th September 2014 in Johannesburg.
