From 4th to 14th September, eight teams will compete for the 2014 European Polo Championship at the Polo Club de Chantilly, taking place nearly at the same time as the final days of the World Equestrian Games, which will be held in Normandy from 23rd August to 7th September. France, European champion in 2010 in Austria, will attempt to regain its title granted in 2012 to Spain in Sotogrande.
The Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly is one of the three most important polo centres in Europe and it is said to be one of the most beautiful. With nine grass fields of the highest quality, located in an enchanting 220 acres surrounding a beautiful farm of the eighteenth century, the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly is totally dedicated to the sport. It is here that most of today’s young talents trained, some have become professionals such as #1 French, Brieuc Rigaux (5-goaler). The core of the French polo team in the 2010 European Championship comes from Chantilly (but they could not be present to defend the title in 2012 in Sotogrande due to a lack of preparation time).
This European Championship, under the umbrella of the Federation of International Polo (FIP) will take place in a period of intense and spectacular games at the Apremont Farm, with tournaments including the Open de France (5th to 21st September) and the Open de France Féminin Chopard (9th to 21st September). With other club tournaments, the performances will be on all nine fields thanks to the great Argentine professional players, the best female polo players and the presence of the top eight European nations.
