When Laurence Graff purchased the “Delaire Estate” located outside of Stellenbosch, he had a clear vision: to develop an internationally known address for gastronomy, art, wine, garden and design. Six years later after turning his dream into a reality, he opened the gates of the “Delaire Graff Estate.”
With two exquisite restaurants, one of the best wine collections in South Africa, exclusive five-star lodges, one of the most beautiful spas in the world, and two luxury boutiques, the “Delaire Graff Estate” is a piece of paradise – as the Polo+10 Team realized upon visiting.
Nestled between the majestic mountains with a fantastic view of the wine country of Stellenbosch, the Delaire Graff Estate is an exceptional place to relax, rejuvenate, enjoy the moment and let your thoughts run free. The Delaire Graff Estate combines old-world elegance with state-of-the-art design, with a conviction for preserving the estate’s origins and conserving its surroundings, it combines the beauty and energy of nature with every comfort imaginable.
The ten lodges – each with its own individual heated pool and private kitchen – are generous and clearly furnished with care and attention to detail. The expansive living area is a tenderly chosen mix of South African Dutch and native South African design, which leaves no wishes unfulfilled.
The Spa in Delaire Graff Estate offers a one-of-a-kind relaxation experience and a wonderful ambience. In elegant suites wellness therapists design treatments adapted to the guest’s desires. Thereby products from Swiss Perfection – Delaire is the only spa in Africa, which utilizes this line of product – as well as the award-winning products from Aromatherapy Associates and Mama Mio are used. Those who like sport will enjoy the fitness room. A hair treatment studio, a twenty-two-meter-long infinity pool on the spa terrace, a Jacuzzi and a large garden round out the wellness offerings.
The Indochine Restaurant and the Delaire Graff Restaurant offer culinary delicacies of the highest level. While Indochine asian inspired dishes are being served (with fresh organic products grown in the estate’s greenhouse), the head chef Christian Campbell offers up “Bistro-Chic” food with creative combinations at Delaire Graff Restaurant.
The unique, high altitude of Delaire Graff Estate on the ridge of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass is known for its fertile earth and cool ocean breezes. This mix of fertile terrain, cold winters, and a long ripening time allows Winzer Morné Vrey to produce exceptionally fine, world-class wines. Since it’s opening in 2008, the wine producer has grown immensely, and is now one of the top-ten wine producers in South Africa.
The Delaire red wine defines itself with large complex structures, smooth tones, and elegance, whereas the white wine offers a wonderful freshness. Numerous awards – three wines have been awarded a rating of 4,5 stars in the renowned Platter Guide, evidence of its high standards, top quality, quality craftsmanship, and excellent taste.
As the founder and chairman of Graff Diamonds International, one of the world’s leading diamond companies. Laurence Graff is known as the “King of Diamonds”. Additionally, the London born art collector is on the board of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Tate Modern in London. His art collection contains numerous original paintings, sculptures, and works from contemporary South African artists inside and outside of the estate.
