First weekend of the Argentine Open

At the opening match of the Argentine Open on Saturday, 17th of November, La Dolfina won clearly aganist Magual with a score of 17:9. After a slow start of La Dolfina Pablo Mac Donough (+10) and Juan Martín Nero (+10) were the first who scored. Then one goal followed another and La Dolfina took the lead with 11:3 after the first half. The foursome with Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) scored 17 goals. Despite this defeat Magual played very well and converted a total of nine goals. Adolfo Cambiaso scored six goals in this match and the sixth one was his 700th goal in the Argentine Open.
The match between Pilará and Alegría was much closer. After a strong start of Pilará it seemed that Alegría had no chances. But Alegría won the next chukkas. At the end Francisco Bensadón (+9), Hilario Ulloa (+9), Sebastián Merlos (+9) and Francisco de Narváez (+8) from Pilará emerged victorious with a 13:12.
It was again a rainy afternoon on Sunday, 18th of November. Facundo Pieres (+10), Mariano Aguerre (+9), Gonzalo Pieres (+10) and Nicolás Pieres (+9) from Ellerstina won with a final score of 12:10 against La Aguada – Las Monjitas. Nevertheless Lucas James (+8), Cristian Laprida (+8), Eduardo Novillo Astrada (+9) and Alejandro Novillo Astrada (+8) from La Aguada – Las Monjitas proved to be a serious opponent in the future.
The second match on Sunday between La Aguada BMW and La Natividad ended up with a score of 12:10 as well. The field was very slippery due to the heavy rain and many players fell off their horses. Miguel Novillo Astrada got hurt on his right shoulder and was replaced by his cousin Julio Novillo Astrada.
