Today starts the third and final station of the BMW Polo Masters Tour in Courchevel. Four teams with a handicap of 6 to 8 goals will compete against each other until February 2nd at the fourth edition of the tournament. Following Val D’Isère and Megève, the event in Courchevel forms the conclusion of the tournament series on snow.
In Val d’Isère and Megève, the tournaments are played with floodlights in the evening, but the tournament in Courchevel is the only one on the tour that takes place during the day. The polo field is situated at over 2000 metres above sea level at the altiport, a location also featured in the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies”, and is thus the highest snow polo field in the world. It can also be directly accessed on skis. This is something the spectators really enjoy, as Jean-Yves Delfosse states: “It is very chic to come and have brunch at the altiport and attend the polo game.”
The breath-taking mountain panorama with views of Mont Blanc is free for all to enjoy. Courchevel is one of the largest unified ski resorts in the world and is very popular with celebrities. Prince William and Duchess Kate, George Clooney, Robin Williams and Roman Abramovich are all fans of this exclusive winter sport resort.
