British Polo Day in Mexico

British Polo Day, the organization that celebrates British luxury and heritage through hosting polo events around the world, will launch in Mexico for the first time on the 24th November 2012 at the Balavanera Polo & Country Club. The event aims to bring together the pre-eminent families in the Mexican equine world with the ‘Best of British’.
The Balavanera Polo & Country Club will host The National Show Jumping Championships in the morning and in the afternoon guests will see matches between Land Rover Eton vs. InterContinental Young Mexico followed by the first Roxtons British Ladies team vs Angelissima The Rest of the World.
The best female polo player in the world Nina Clarkin will captain the first Roxtons British Ladies team. Nina, a 4-goal polo player who has played all over the world, her highest achievement to date was winning the British Open Gold Cup in 2003, the New Zealand open in 2010 and has represented England in the European and World Cup. Clare Milford Heaven was until recently the social editor of Tatler for eight years. Clare has played in the England Team in Mexico eleven years ago and again in 2010 when an all female team won bronze in the FIP European Championships.
Angelissama The Rest of the World will be lead by Imelda de Alba whose father owns the Balvanera Polo & Country club. Imelda will be joined by Sophie Crossley 1 goal, Izzy Parsons 2 goals and Charlotte Sweney one goal.
JJ de Alba, who at the young age of sixteen is already a two-goal player, will captain the InterContinental Young Mexico team. They will take on Land Rover Eton captained by Tristan Phillimore, president of the Old Etonian Polo Association, joined by Ben Vestey 2 goal players and the Emson brothers.
Nina Clarkin – the captain of the first Land Rover British Ladies team: “It is quite an honor to be captaining the British Ladies team at the inaugural British Polo Day in Mexico. To be taking a team to Mexico is hugely exciting but to also be playing against my good friend Imelda at her home, Balvanera Polo & Country Club, makes it even more special. We have a great team to oppose the Rest of the World players, so it has all the makings of an interesting encounter.”
