The British Polo Day celebrates the Year of the Horse

On January 31st China celebrated the Chinese New Year and sounded the bell for the Year of the Horse. The British Polo Day, presented by Land Rover, celebrates with them. Worldwide, the British Polo Day commemorates the British lifestyle as well as the heritage and tradition of polo. The polo events build a bridge between cultures and bring people together in an international network.

This year’s tournament series again has great events on its agenda. The 2014 British Polo Day Global Series includes ten events around the world. In addition to well-known locations, Morocco, Australia and the United States will participate for the first time.

The first event is the British Polo Day in Abu Dhabi on March 22nd. For the fifth time in a row the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, one of the most exclusive clubs in the world, hosts the prestigious event. Long since, the event has become firmly established and is a centre of attraction for celebrities from all over the region. The host is His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Shakhboot al Nahyan. A camel polo match will start the British Polo Day Abu Dhabi.

A good week later the British Polo Day returns to its birthplace in Dubai. The first event was held in 2009 at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club in the United Arab Emirates. This year, the British Polo Day Dubai takes place on March 28th and coincides with the start of the Dubai World Cup, the richest horse race worldwide. Besides the polo tournament including the four teams Cambridge, Oxford, British Exiles und Habtoor Polo as well as the traditional camel polo, the visitors can also expect a premiere: The first bicycle polo tournament in the Middle East.

The British Polo Day Morocco also is a premiere. The event takes place at Jnan Amar Polo Club in Marrakech for the first time on April 19th and is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. of Morocco. Teams with players from England, the Middle East and North Africa will compete against each other at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Charity is one of the main considerations at the British Polo Day and so the British Polo Day Morocco has gathered donations for the Eve Branson Foundation in partnership with the Branson family.

On May 31st, the British Polo Day USA will also be held for the first time. The event combines high goal polo and British lifestyle at the Will Rogers Polo Club in Los Angeles. Lord Fredrick Windsor has taken the patronage for the premiere.

With the 2014 British Polo Day Charity Cup at the scenic Black River Bears Ground, Henley-on-Thames (UK), the tournament series returns home. On June 21st, four teams saddle up and present the sport of polo at its highest stage. Chef Theo Randall will be responsible for culinary pleasures.

From the UK to Russia: On July 26th the British Polo Day takes place at the Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club. One of the most glamorous events in the calendar will be presented by the Rodzianko family, which is closely connected to equestrian sports in Russia.

After last year’s great success with about 1,000 international guests, the British Polo Day returns to China on September 13th. This year the organizers are expecting again an audience from around the world to come to China.

Besides Morocco and USA, Australia is the third new location on the agenda in 2014. On October 26th, the internationally renowned polo family Schwarzenbach invites to the British Polo Day Australia at the Garangula Polo Club in New South Wales.

The British Polo Day Mexico on November 22nd, 2014, once again brings on style, finesse, first-class food and high goal polo to the prestigious Balvanera Polo & Country Club. As always the Da Alba family welcomes the „who is who“ of the Mexican high society.

The British Polo Day India from December 12th to 14th, 2014, at the Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute ends the 2014 British Polo Day Global Series. The three-day event is presented by His Highness Gaj Singh II of Marwar-Jodhpur. The location in Jodhpur offers visitors not only excellent polo matches, but also a fantastic view of important historical settings of India like the Meherangarh fort and the Umaid Bhavan Palace. In addition to that, visitors can enjoy the unique culture of the Rajasthani.

The British Polo Day enjoys great popularity worldwide and becomes bigger each year. For 2015 and 2016, new destinations, including South Africa, Brazil and South Korea, are being planned.
