Return to Jodhpur

British Polo Day India – presented by Land Rover and in association with Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces – returns to Jodhpur from 12th to 14th December 2014 and once again takes place at The Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute.

Hosted by His Highness Gaj Singh II The Maharaja of Marwar-Jodhpur, guests will enjoy three days of heritage polo by day, and spell-binding palace parties by night. British Polo Day India will culminate in a magnificent Umaid Bhawan Palace reception and fashion show, featuring the most iconic names in British fashion, including McQ Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Hackett London.

British Polo Day’s evening events take guests to some of India’s most historic settings. On Friday 12th December a drinks party will take place on the roof of the overwhelmingly beautiful Umaid Bhawan Palace – the ancestral home of our host, former member of the Indian Parliament and High Commissioner of India, His Highness Gaj Singh II The Maharaja of Marwar-Jodhpur. On the evening of Saturday 13th December, guests will take a rather special walk up to the breathtaking Mehrangarh Fort for a candle-lit dinner and dancing until the early hours!

On the final night – Sunday 14th December – British Polo Day India draws to a close with a glamorous reception at the Umaid Bhawan Palace. The highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be a spectacular fashion show featuring the latest collections from McQ Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Hackett London and UK Jewellery Designer of the Year, Sophie Harley – the creative talent behind the jewellery worn in James Bond’s Casino Royale.

The evening will also include a live auction for the benefit of The Indian Head Injury Foundation and Head Injury Through Sport. With lots including seven days on the edge of wildness at exclusive retreat Nihiwatu, Sumba; a week in one of 3rd Home’s luxurious properties; a Holland & Holland shooting lesson followed by private dinner at Royal fine wine merchants Justerini & Brooks; a bespoke Brompton Bicycle and very special Royal Salute Hundred Cask Whisky Selection, British Polo Day hopes to raise significant funds for these worthy causes.

Ed Olver, CEO and Co-Founder of British Polo Day says: “British Polo Day India is the bastion of our Global Series. Jodhpur has a long and established history of polo and, as one of India’s most historic cities, it is a truly fitting home for an event celebrating the heritage of the game and the bridge between our two countries. We are delighted to be working with some of the biggest names in British fashion this year, for what is set to be a truly outstanding closing reception in the historic Umaid Bhawan Palace.”

The event is sponsored by Land Rover, Hackett London, Royal Salute, Jaeger-LeCoulture, Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, Taittinger Champagne, Abercrombie & Kent,, Justerini & Brooks, Brompton, Global Partnership Family Office, Holland & Holland, Charles Russell Speechlys, Gavel&Grand, British Silverware, Taylor Morris, Prestat, 3rd Home, Jax Coco, The Grosvenor Stationery Company, D.R.
