Successful anniversary in Berlin

The fifth edition of the Bucherer Polo Cup Berlin was a total success: On the past weekend many spectators came to the renowned racecourse in Berlin-Hoppegarten, called “Galopprennbahn Hoppegarten”, to enjoy exciting polo matches and fantastic weather. Four teams competed against each other over the course of the three days at the last station of this year’s German Polo Tour.

In the final match, team Lanson encountered team Land Rover. Both teams fought for victory until the last minutes and presented a highly competitive game to the large audience. With the sound of the final chukka bell, Wolfram Trudo Knoefel (-1), Agustin Kronhaus (+3), Nico Wollenberg (+1) and Marcello “Tucky“ Caivano (+3) of team Lanson left the field as winners with a final result of 9.5-8.

Previously team Wiessner Immobilien and team Bucherer fought for third place. For long periods, Bucherer dominated the match and just before the end was in the lead by 4-2. But in the final chukka, team Wiessner Immobilien took control of the match and gained the lead. In the end, Wiessner Immobilien won by 6-4 and thus was placed third. Miguel Amieva (+4) of team Land Rover was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament and at the award ceremony was presented with a stick bag by polo label La Martina.

Organiser Christopher Kirsch: “Due to the good weather and the unique setting we had a great atmosphere at this year’s Bucherer Polo Cup. Many spectators came to see the matches, more than we had expected beforehand. This shows us that the tournament has established itself in its fifth year in Berlin-Hoppegarten and is accepted extremely well.”
