Top polo players showing off their best skills, high speed play, adrenaline-fueled matches, and a relaxed and festive atmosphere made this tournament one of the definite highlights of the season. Ten teams, more teams than ever before, with forty players participated in this year’s competition for the most coveted trophy of the season. The players brought about 200 horses with them to the capital.
Yesterday the perfectly organised tournament ended with an exciting final match. On Sunday, rain and wind could not outshine the outstanding polo that was being played in the fields, and spectators remained excited in the sidelines, waiting for the final results. Finalists were teams ELTEC with Caesar Crasemann (+1), Caspar Crasemann (2), Heinrich Dumrath (+3) and Adrian Laplacette (+5) and Engel & Völkers with Jo Schneider (0) (taking the place of the injured Christian Grimme), Lukas Sdrenka (+1), Gastón Maiquez (+7) and Christopher Kirsch (+4). After a tight victory for team ELTEC by 7,5-6 against Engel & Völkers, the quartet leaded by Caspar Crasemann won the trophy of the Engel & Völkers Berlin Mailfeld Cup and won the German Championship High Goal 2013.
After a huge effort due to the high competiveness from all teams, in the end the third place was gladly awarded to Team Daume with Sebastian Schneberger (+1), Eva Brühl (+2), Valentín Novillo Astrada (+5) and Gnochi Bernal (+4). Winner of the “Tom Tailor Trophy 2013” is team Allianz Kundler with Dr. Piero Dillier (0), Harald Link (0), Lucas Labat (+6) and Max Charlton (+6). The Most Valuable Player award was granted to Lukas Sdrenka (+1, team Engel & Völkers) and the best playing pony was Ocha (8 years old) from Caspar Crasemann (+2, team ELTEC). Sinje Sybert, Krista Bartalis and Maria Paula Fernandez were on the spot to report for POLO+10.
