Cape Town in polo fever

For the fourth time the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo, as one of the most exclusive and luxurious lifestyle events in South Africa, took place on 1st March. The glamorous event was held again at Val de Vie, outside the megacity. Highlight of the day was the polo match with local and international players. Both teams with handicaps of 8-goals showed a great performance and delighted the audience with exciting polo. At the end, team Veuve Clicquot under Johan du Plooy’s leadership were way out in front of their opponent and won the match against team Nigus by a narrow margin of 6-5.

Even off the field there was plenty of entertainment. A fashion show presented collections from Emilio Pucci, Escada, Cavalli, Armani Collezione, Rupert Sanderson, Elie Tahari, Herve Leger and Vanessa G. Bentley was at the face with some models and the guests were coddled by make-up artists from Elizabeth Arden.

Among the numerous visitors this year were many prominent names again. In addition to the South African sport minister Fikile Mbalula and the politician and businessman Tokyo Sexwale, the fashion legends David Tlale and Malcolm Kluk as well as supermodel Katryn Kruger enjoyed the chukka. Also present: Andy Green. The Lieutnant-Colonel of the Royal Air Force holds the current speed record for land vehicles and as the first human he broke the sound barrier with a land vehicle in a attempt to set a record, officially recognized by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile).
