The Cowdray Park Polo Club in England endows The Carlos Gracida Memorial Trophy in memory of Carlos Gracida. The Mexican born Carlos Gracida was one of the best polo players in the world and ten times the winner of the Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship and nine times of the U.S. Open Championship. On 25th February 2014 Carlos Gracida died as a result of a polo accident in the USA. (POLO+10 reported)
Vice President of Cowdray Park Polo Club, Lila Pearson says: “Charles and I wanted to pay tribute to the extraordinary legacy which Carlos has left at Cowdray Park. He was respected and admired for his enormous skills and loved for the warmth of his personality. He leaves a great gap in our lives.”
The Carlos Gracida Memorial Trophy will be presented the first time to the winners of the opening match of the 2014 Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup tournament at Cowdray Park Polo Club. The tournament starts on 24th June and the final will take place on 20th July.
