Today the ninth Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge starts at the Desert Palm Retreat and Polo Club. The tournament is one of the most prestigious events in the region and regularly attracts local and international polo stars to the renowned club of Ali Albwardy.
This year, four top-class teams again have announced their attendance. Among others, the 10 goaler David Stirling will be playing, the Uruguayan saddles up for team CNN. Also present is HH Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (0), of course she wants to defend her title from last year. This time she has brought her own team called UAE. Ali Albwardy’s sons Tariq (+1) and Rashid (+2) have also confirmed their participation and fight for team Desert Palm.
The 2014 Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge is hosted under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. For the first time in the tournament’s history, the final will be held on a Saturday: On February 22nd, the best two teams fight for victory at the 2014 Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge.
