Nachdem die drei großen Polo Nationen Argentinien, die Vereinigten Staaten und England vor wenigen Wochen ihren Austritt aus der Federation of International Polo (FIP) verkündet hatten, ist FIP Präsident Patrick Guerrand-Hermès jetzt zurückgetreten.
Im Rahmen der FIP Generalversammlung in Buenos Aires gab Hermès gestern seinen Rücktritt bekannt. Bis April wird der Australier und FIP-Ambassador James William Ashton als Interims Präsident eingesetzt. Dann sollen neue Wahlen stattfinden. Die „three big“, die weltweit über die Hälfte aller organisierten Mitglieder repräsentieren, hatten den Rücktritt von Hermès zur Bedingung ihrer Rückkehr zur FIP gemacht. Sie haben ihren FIP-Austritt noch während der Generalversammlung revidiert und sind wieder ordentliche Mitglieder des Polo Weltverbandes.

Argentina, USA, and England return to the international federation.
After the withdrawal of Argentina, USA, and England from the Federation of International Polo (FIP) three weeks ago, the FIP President Patrick Guerrand-Hermès has now resigned. Guerrand-Hermès announced his resignation yesterday at the FIP General Assembly in Buenos Aires. The Australian James William Ashton, who is also FIP-Ambassador, has been appointed to serve as Interim President until April when elections will be held. The “big three”, who make up over half the members worldwide, had stated that they would only return to the FIP if Hermès resigned. Argentina, USA, and England confirmed their return to the federation at the General Assembly and are once again full members of the FIP.
