Der Polo World Cup on Snow könnte schon bald von St. Moritz nach Samedan zügeln. Beim Gemeindevorstand von Samedan zumindest ist eine entsprechende Anfrage der St. Moritz Polo AG eingegangen.
Laut der beim Gemeindevorstand Samedan eingegangenen Anfrage erwägt die St. Moritz Polo AG, das Poloturnier für die Jahre 2011 bis 2015 nach Samedan zu verlegen.
Thomas Nievergelt, Gemeindepräsident von Samedan: „Wir haben eine Anfrage bekommen und gesagt, grundsätzlich sei dies möglich. Allerdings würde das bedeuten, dass eine Einigung mit den betroffenen Grundeigentümern erfolgen muss, dass die Investitionen gesichert sein müssen, dass klar sein muss, wer als Investorin auftritt und wer als Betreiberin von einem solchen Platz. Es gibt also noch zahlreiche Fragen zu klären.“
Der Gemeindevorstand von Samedan hat laut Nievergelt zudem ganz klar gesagt, dass wir nicht zum Spielball für Differenzen, welche auf dem St. Moritzersee vorhanden sind, werden wollen.
Diese Differenzen sind auch der Grund, warum man bei der St. Moritz Polo AG keine Stellung nehmen möchte. Auf Anfrage von Radio Grischa hieß es allerdings, es gehe nicht darum, den Polo World Cup on Snow zu verlegen. Viel eher gehe es um ein Zusatzangebot, welches im Winter in Samedan aufgezogen werden soll. In diesem Rahmen wollte die Polo AG offenbar klären, ob Samedan als Ersatzstandort in Frage käme.
Is the St. Moritz Polo World Cup being moved to Samedan?
To date the Polo World Cup on snow has always been held on a frozen Lake St. Moritz.
As was reported by Polo+10, the organiser, St. Moritz Polo AG, cancelled the 27th St. Moritz Polo World Cup. The news portal, www.suedostschweiz.ch, is presently reporting interesting developments in regards to the snow polo event. To quote our source www.suedostschweiz.ch:
The Polo World Cup on Snow may soon be moved from St. Moritz to Samedan. Indeed the local administrative board of Samden has already received a corresponding enquiry from the organisers, Polo AG. According to the enquiry, Polo AG is considering relocating the polo tournament to Samden from 2011 to 2015.
Thomas Nievergelt, president of Samedan’s council, said: “We have received an enquiry and sent a response stating that it is possible to hold such a tournament here in Samedan. However, this would require that an agreement be reached with any real estate owners that may be affected, that the investment be secured, and clear definitions be made of who would qualify as investors, and operators of such a facility. As such there are still several aspects that would have to be resolved.”
According to Nievergelt, the council has also clearly stated that Samedan does not wish to become a pawn in the disputes that have arisen on Lake St. Moritz.
These disputes are also the reason why the St. Moritz Polo AG has desisted from making a public statement in regards to the whole matter. In response to an enquiry from Radio Grischa, Polo AG stated that their consideration of Samedan did not imply a complete relocation of the Polo World Cup on Snow. According to Polo AG, the intention was to find a supplementary site for the winter tournament and Samedan was being considered
