Während es hierzulande immer kälter wird, startet Thailand ab November in die neue Polosaison. Dort hat der Polosport in den vergangenen Jahren einen großen Schritt nach vorne gemacht. Großen Anteil an dieser Entwicklung haben Harald Link und Nunthinee Tanner, die in Pattaya den Thai Polo Club zu einem beeindruckenden Polozentrum mit internationaler Beachtung ausgebaut haben. Gespielt wird von November bis April auf zwei Poloplätzen. In der Poloschule können Poloneulinge und Fortgeschrittene beim kalifornischen Star Coach Rege Ludwig auch in der kommenden Saison den Polosport erlernen bzw. ihr Spiel verbessern. Zu den Highlights der Saison gehören die Thai Polo Open, das Pink Polo Turnier und das Beach Polo Hua Hin.
Zum fünften Mal werden vom 12. bis 22. Januar 2011 die Thai Polo Open ausgespielt. Im vergangenen Jahr wurde das Turnier mit sieben international besetzten Poloteams erstmals in einer Spielklasse von +14 ausgetragen. Und auch dieses Jahr wird mit einem Teamhandicap von +12 bis +14 gespielt. Das Turnier zählt seit Jahren zu den wichtigsten Poloveranstaltungen in Südostasien und liefert wichtige Punkte für die Südostasien-League.
Am 26. Februar 2011 wird sich der Thai Polo Club zum dritten Mal in einen Traum in Pink verwandelt. Pink ist DIE Farbe beim Queens Cup La Martina Pink Polo. Nicht nur das Clubhaus wird in pinkfarbener Dekoration erstrahlen, auch die Zuschauer sind dazu angehalten, sich farblich in Pink zu präsentieren. Im vergangenen Jahr hat La Martina für eine Versteigerung eigens einen pinkfarbenen Sattel entworfen und zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Pink Polo Event ist das einzige reine Damenturnier in Südostasien und wird als Charity-Veranstaltung zugunsten der Queen Sirikit Breast Cancer Foundation ausgetragen.
Nach der überaus erfolgreichen Premiere im vergangenen Jahr, wird auch in der kommenden Jahr an den langen Sandstränden von Hua Hin wieder Beach Polo gespielt. Austragungsort wird am 9. April 2011 erneut das traditionsreiche Hua Hin Resort.

The Beginning of the Thai Polo Season
The Thai polo season runs from November 2010 to April 2011.
While it is getting colder here, Thailand, where there has been major progress on the polo scene, is getting geared up for the new polo season that will kick off in November. A great part of the progress on the polo scene can be attributed to Harald Link and Nunthinee Tanner who have developed the Thai Polo Club in Pattaya into a polo centre of international repute. From November to April games will be played on two polo fields. At the polo school, beginners and advanced players can learn the game or develop their skills further under the auspices of the Californian star coach Rege Ludwig all through the next season. The highlights of the season include the Thai Polo Open, the Pink Polo Tournament, and the Beach Polo Hua Hin.
The 5th Thai Polo Open will be held from 12 – 22 January, 2011. With seven international polo teams taking part, the tournament was, for the first time held at +14-handicap last year.. This year as well the handicap requirement for the tournament will be +12 and +14. For many years now, the tournament has been one of the most important polo events in South East Asia and an opportunity for teams in the South East Asian League to secure crucial points.
For the third time, the Thai Polo Club will be turned all pink on 26 February 2011. Pink is the colour of the Queens Cup La Martina Pink Polo. Not only will the clubhouse be decorated in pink, spectators will also be required to show up decked out in pink. Last year La Martina provided a specially designed pink saddle for auction. The Pink Polo Event, which is held as a charity event to the benefit of the Queen Sirikit Breast Cancer Fundation, is the only ladies’ tournament in South East Asia.
Following the successful premier last year, beach polo will again be played on the long sandy beaches of Hua Hin next year. The venue of the games to be played on 9 April, 2011 will be the Hua Hin Resort.
