Sunday afternoon saw an extremely exciting final take place at Cowdray Park Polo Club. Teams Dubai (Rashid Albwardy +2, Alastair Paterson +3, Diego Cavanagh +7 & Adolfo Cambiaso +10) and King Power (Top Srivaddhanaprabha 0, Pablo Llorente +5, Gonzalito Pieres +10 & Marcos Di Paoloa +7) battled it out on the famous Lawns 1 ground to see who would be announced the British Open Polo Champions for 2014.
Spectators were treated to brilliant sunshine and a truly nail biting game, with some fantastic tactical plays. Dubai managed to maintain the upper hand throughout the first few chukkas of the match, however King Power had a fantastic comeback in the fifth chukka, led by the teams 10 goaler Gonzalito Pieres. Despite starting the 6th chukka with an equal 10-10 score, Adolfo Cambiaso managed to lead his team to a 13-11 victory.
Diego Cavanagh (+7), of the winning Dubai team said of the victory, ‘We went into the game knowing that it was going to be tough. As a team we played a very tactically strong game. King Power made a comeback in the fifth chukka but ultimately we deserved the win!’
