Under the motto “Switzerland meets India”, four international teams competed for the 2013 Hublot Polo Cup Ascona. The prestigious tournament took place at the Polo Club Ascona in Ticino, Switzerland. In an exciting final, team Styger & Partner / Podium Swiss with Philipp Zimmermann (0), Dr. Piero Dillier (0), Uwe Zimmermann (+1) and Lucas Labat (+6) defeated the trio Stefan Roth (+1), Thomas Wolfensberger (+1) and Miki Lagos (+4) of team Andermatt Swiss Alps / Bentley Lugano by 7-6.
About 3,500 spectators came to see the three-day tournament as well as the parade with the players and their grooms through the centre of the village. The matches were held on the former airport of the community Ascona at Lago Maggiore. On Friday a player’s party with more than 300 guests took place at the beach of Lago Maggiore.
The winners received watches by Hublot and all players were presented with trophies by Flamant. With a multitude of nationally and internationally known sponsors the Hublot Ascona Polo Cup is one of the highlights of the European polo season. Next to Hublot there also were many other sponsors such as Julius Bär, Styger & Partner, Bentley Lugano, Giardino Hotel Group, Andermatt Swiss Alps, Poroli Special Boats and Podium.
