In June, two exciting tournaments are organized by the Santa María Polo Club, the Andrés Parladé Memorial Tournament and the Memorial Conde de la Maza.
First event in the middle of June is the 14th edition of the Andrés Parladé Memorial Tournament. From June 6th to 8th, six teams will compete against each other: Sapphire, Los Dragones, San Enrique, Blueye, Woodchester and Royal Oman. The Río Fields, in Sotogrande, will held this tournament up to six goals handicap included in the low goal season played in the month of june.
At the end of June, Santa María Polo Club organizes the 10th edition of the Memorial Conde de la Maza, one of the traditional polo tournaments of the low goal season. The event will be held at two weekends, the first June 13th to 15th and the final stage June 20th to 22nd. The first leg will be played on the Puente de Hierro polo fields while the final stage will be held in Rio polo fields, both official tournament venues of Santa María Polo Club.
Six teams will take part in this tournament and they are: Sapphire, recent winner of the Copa de Polo de Jerez and Memorial Parladé Tournament, Woodchester, Los Dragones, Royal Oman, Blueye and San Enrique.
Don Leopolodo Sainz de la Maza and Falco (Excellency Conde de la Maza), was born in Madrid in 1927 and died in Moron de la Frontera in 2002. He was a four goaler polo player and contemporary of great polo players like Horacio Heguy, Juan Carlos Harriot, Gaston Dorignac and Chamaco Herrera, among others. He played mostly in Spain, France and Mexico, winning important tournaments such as Deauville Silver Cup, Copa del Rey (Memorial Alfonso XIII) and the Puente de Hierro Open. His love to polo is today reflected in their sons Leopoldo and Ignacio Sainz de la Maza.
