This Monday the Guards Polo Club, of one the most prestigious polo clubs in England and also worldwide, celebrated the opening of the newly refurbished Royal Box. HRH Prince Philip, who founded the club in 1955 and still officiates as the club’s President, opened the Royal Box in a solemn ceremony. In addition to the refurbishment, a hallmark of the new interior is the inclusion of HRH Prince Philip’s cypher in the banister.
The opening coincides with the start of the club’s 2014 season. From April 19th to May 11th the Spring Tournament takes place at the Guards Polo Club. Highlight of the season at the club will be the Cartier Queen’s Cup (17 to 22 goals) which starts May 20th and goes until June 15th, 2014. The season runs from April to September, with more than 600 matches throughout the season. Guards Polo Club is situated in the heart of Windsor Great Park and boasts 12 grounds, two Royal Boxes and an elegant Clubhouse.
