The 5th Hublot Polo Cup Ascona was a total success: Next to the four teams with twelve players and their 60 horses, around 3,000 spectators came to watch the exciting matches at high temperatures. The huge interest of the media, the perfect organisation and the top-notch catering of “Le Gourmet” made the event an unforgettable experience for both players and guests alike.
Winning team of the 2014 Hublot Polo Cup Ascona became team Engel & Völkers, consisting of Piero Dillier (0), Uwe Zimmermann (+1) and Lucas Labat (+6). Cedric Schweri (0), Thomas Wolfensberger (+1) and Martin Riglos (+4) of team Podium Swiss & Loris Kessel Lugano were placed second.
In addition to the matches the event offered an entertaining program. Following the opening with all players and sponsors on Friday, 18th July at Hotel Eden Roc Marina and the first two polo matches, in the evening the “Player’s Beach Party” took place at the Lido di Ascona, welcoming 350 guests.
On Saturday the event continued with the parade through the village of Ascona. In the evening the polo action proceeded with the „Polo Dinner by Night“, complemented by the opera tenor Ottavio Palmieri and a fireworks display. On Sunday the guests enjoyed the family brunch, followed by a charity polo match and the final and deciding matches for the coveted Hublot Polo Cup.
