Ladies power in Miami

Yesterday the 10th La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup started at the beach of South Beach in Florida. The La Martina South Beach Women’s Polo Cup VI opened the world’s largest beach polo tournament. Eight ladies teams with players from around the world battled it out in two groups and fought for victory. After a long hot day with hard-fought matches Scarlet Davenport, Maggie McNamara and Laura Willson of team La Martina defeated Kaila Doud, Slaney O’Hanlon and Lynn O’Connor of team Eden Roc/Cheeki by 2-1 in Division One. Kaila Doud was named Most Valuable Player. Pony „Little Joe“ of Laura Willson was honoured as Best Playing Pony.

Lynda Mariano, Sabina Barnett and Kerstie Allen of team FontaineBleau Aviation are the winners of Division Two. The trio sent Coco Smith, Bobette Martin and Leah Masters of team Jet Blue by 7-2 off the field. Kerstie Allen scored all seven goals for FontaineBleau Aviation and rightly got the award as Most Valuable Player. She also received the award Best Playing Pony for her pony “Kai”.

As from today it’s up to the men. Likewise eight teams compete at La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup in South Beach between the 20th and 22nd Streets. The final will be played on Sunday, 27th April 2014.
