Liechtenstein wins Beach Polo European Championship

From 26 to 28 August, the PIPA ProAm Beach Polo European Championship, presented by A Quechua, Jacques Lemans and Lisagest, was held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy for the third time. For three days, four teams fought for the trophy. In the final, Liechtenstein and Italy faced. After a slow start – only one goal was scored in the first chukker –Liechtenstein showed with three goals in the second chukker that they have ambitions for the title. Gerardo Cosentino (+1) and his team mate Brad Rainford-Blackett (+3) also impressed during the match with nice moves and a good team play. At the end, Liechtenstein was ahead by 8-0 and ended the match as the winner of the Beach Polo European Championship 2014. It was the first participation at the Beach Polo Championship for the small polo land Liechtenstein. In spring, A Quechua World of Polo opened in Vaduz a polo club and polo school under the direction of Oliver Muggli and Verena Marxer.

Slovakia who defeated the Czech Republic by 11-6 was placed third. After a drawn first chukker, Ladislav Agardi (+3) gained with three goals the lead for his team. In the fourth chukker the +3 goaler cap it all and scored four goals. The successful scorer was impressed by the Beach Polo Championship: „I have never played at such an incredible event and arena!“

Marek Polan (+1, team Czech Republic) was awarded as Best Player. Best Plaxing Pony was „Nubia“ of Ladislav Agardi (+3, team Slovakia).

A total of 7,000 visitors watched on three days the sandy chukker. Above all, the final days was the most popular day, more than 2,000 visitors found their way to the beach of Lignano.

2015 the Beach Polo Championship will take place from 27th to 29th August.
