Last weekend the first polo tournament in Denmark ever took place at Copenhagen’s most central and famous park, Fælledparken. At the Copenhagen Polo Open four teams competed against each other over two days. In the final team Maserati with Leah Hamdan (0), Matt Lodder (+4) and Ryan Pemble (+6) won against Michael Husted (+1), Greg Greening (+1) and Ross Ainslie (+7) of team Shamballa Jewels by 9-8. In the match for third place Rossini Caviar defeated Care Service by 8-5.
The tournament was played as an open tournament all teams starting with 0. Santiago Shanahan was named Most Valuable Player and Cumbia, played by Leah Hamdan, Best Playing Pony.
Over 4,500 spectators including Royals and Danish celebrities attended the tournament. Prizes were presented by Princess Tamara Czartoryski and Frederik Fetterlein, the Danish Tennis star. The winning Maserati team were driven to the podium in an open top Maserati in front of cheering crowds.
