Team Slovakia with Ladislav Agardi (+1) and Stanislav Herko (0) is the winning team of the first tour event of the 2014 PIPA ProAm European Snow Polo Championship. In the final match they defeated team Germany with Dele Iversen (0) and Bernhard Niederhammer (0).
The first stage of the PIPA ProAm European Snow Polo Championship took place at the Valcastello Polo Club near Innichen (Italian: San Candido). Six teams from Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia and Denmark competed against each other over the course of three days. Team Suisse was placed third after defeating team Denmark.
In the beginning of the final, Germany hit some nice shots. Niederhammer and Iversen showed perfect team play. In the third chukka Agardi and Herko got back into the game and could make two important goals leading to a fast and incredible last fourth chukka. “Many years of polo in Cortina – but we never had such an atmosphere!” one of the visitors commented. The people were cheering for the teams and having a great time.
The next stage of the PIPA ProAm European Snow Polo Championship will take place from February 21st to 23rd in Salla, Austria. The final stage of the championship will be held from March 7th to 9th in Malbun, Liechtenstein.
