The Polo Club Wallerstein and Princess Anna zu Oettingen-Wallerstein, initiator and founder of the internationally established “Girls Only” Polo Cup, will be hosting competitive polo for ladies tournament at the Wallerstein Estate once again this season. However, this year the lady players will not be playing against each other, but – in accordance to the tournament’s motto “Girls Only vs. Boys Only” – against three male teams. From May 9th to 11th the Polo Club Wallerstein organises the international „battle of the sexes“ polo tournament at Wallerstein Castle.
“The aim of the tournament is to benchmark the level of ladies’ polo at Wallerstein, but also to celebrate the beauty of this sport with our friends from all over the world,” says Princess Anna. “We will be welcoming players from India, the UK, Russia, Austria, Dubai, Singapore and Spain in Wallerstein for this wonderful tournament weekend.”
The invitation only tournament was overbooked shortly after the personal invitations were sent out. “Everybody wanted to join this ‘battle of the sexes‘ format. It will certainly be very entertaining and guarantee some emotional games, especially because we will be seeing couples lining up against one another and father vs. daughter competing,” says Princess Anna with a wide grin.
“We are very much looking forward to sharing this tournament weekend with friends from abroad and visitors from the neighbourhood. The sport itself and a relaxed, family orientated country polo atmosphere are our prime concern. Admission is free and the visitors are invited to bring their picnic baskets along,” says host Prince Carl-Eugen Oettingen-Wallerstein, who is nervously looking forward to playing against his wife and daughter. The matches begin at 2pm on Friday and Saturday and at 11am on Sunday.
