British Polo Day India 2013

From December 13th to 15th, the British Polo Day India will take place for the third time in Jodhpur, a city in the northwest of India. Hosted by His Highness Gaj Singh II The Maharaja of Marwar-Jodhpur, the tournament is held at the Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute and celebrates the history and heritage of the noble sport of polo.

With players from some of the world’s most well-known institutions taking to the pitch, spectators will experience three days of fast-paced, exciting polo with matches between Oxford and Jodhpur; Eton College and Mayo College; Cavalry and Guards Camel Polo; and The British Army and The President’s Bodyguard.

The guests will also be treated to splendid pitch-side afternoon teas, glamorous drinks receptions and fine dining from the acclaimed Head Chef at Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces. British Polo Day India culminates in an evening reception and spectacular fashion show from celebrated Indian-born British designer Zaeem Jamal, who will be showcasing – for the first time – his Autumn-Winter 2014 collection.

This year’s event is sponsored by Land Rover, Hackett, Justerini & Brooks, Zaeem Jamal, Charles Russell, Abercrombie & Kent, Ettinger, Billionaire.com, 3rd Home, The Grosvenor Stationary Company and Taittinger, Jaeger-LeCoulture and Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces. In support of His Highness’ personal charity and its British equivalent, The Indian Head Injury Foundation, all fundraising proceeds will go directly towards the improvement of head injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment in India and The UK.

His Royal Highness Gaj Singh II The Maharaja of Marwar-Jodhpur comments: “We are delighted once again to be hosting the British Polo Day India. Britain and India have a rich and complex heritage that – through polo – comes to life with a modern twist. Last year’s British Polo Day was such a success and I’m confident that this year will exceed expectations. It is a wonderful platform for British and Indian friends to meet up over a long weekend and celebrate the ties that bind us.”

Mr. Rohit Suri, Vice President, Jaguar Land Rover, India adds: “We at Land Rover are delighted to associate with British Polo Day for the second consecutive year. Land Rover epitomizes capability combined with luxury, elegance and power, backed by a rich heritage. Our partnership with British Polo Day not only celebrates these core values but also provides Land Rover with a distinct platform to reinforce this brand essence.”

Ed Olver, CEO and Co-Founder of British Polo Day said: “Jodhpur has a long and established history of polo – it is the perfect setting to celebrate the ties that exist between Great Britain and India, and our shared affinity for the sport. British Polo Day India celebrates British luxury heritage and we are thrilled to be working with some of the very best luxury brands to deliver a truly spectacular weekend.”

Tom Hudson, Co-Founder of British Polo Day, said: “We were delighted to host the Royal Polo Tour of the House of Jodhpur at the British Polo Day Charity Cup in Great Britain this summer and are now looking forward to flying out some of the best British polo players for this return fixture. Jodhpur provides a stunning backdrop to what will be a hugely enjoyable three days and we would like to thank all our partners and everyone involved.”
