A wind of lightness and femininity

For its 28th edition, a wind of lightness and femininity blew in a world where the Argentine, centaurs are the modern day masters of polo. This did not distracted the attention of the Antelope team (12-15 goals) and La Concepcion team (8-10 goals) both winners of the Polo Masters – Open de Gassin finals.

Antelope and La Concepcion winners of the Polo Masters Open de Gassin
5 teams of 8-10 Goals and 6 teams of 12-15 Goals competed during the 10 days of qualification. The 12-15 goals final saw the Ganthoot team led by Nicky Sen (hcp 0) face the Antelope team led by Geoffrey Palmer (hcp 0). The first 4 periods were neck to neck, neither team managing to take the advantage. The intensity kept growing in the last period when the game tipped in favor of Antelope and it’s Martin Aguerre (hcp 6) and Jota Chavanne (hcp 5) who scored the decisive three goals for a final score of 10 to 7. Geoffrey Palmer wins again the silver mallet of the Polo Masters offered by the Mairie of Gassin and sculpted by Xavier Fraissinette. Note that this sculptor is the creator of the bronze statue commissioned by Mrs Schuler adorning the Polo Club since its launch and has become its emblem.

A very tight match took place for the 8-10 goals final with La Concepcion led by Hanspeter Spek (hcp -1) and assisted by Diego Braun (hcp 5) defeating The Tides of Darek Gardener (hcp 0), on a score of 4 to 5 wining the Richard Mille Cup.

Real seeds of champion that have only one goal in mind, that of following in the footsteps of their elders: Patrick Paillol (hcp 4), Edouard Pan (hcp 4) and Clément Delfosse (hcp 5) who went through the same steps and now compete internationally in the French team.

Julian Joailliers Ladies Cup
hree teams of female riders of different nationalities (French, Argentine, Polish and English) were present for an American style tournament; each team playing two periods against opposing teams. It’s Magali Laget (hcp -1), team captain of Domaine La Rouillère who quickly got the better of the team of La Concepcion. In the last two periods against the Julian Joailliers team, the two teams were tied until Caroline Anier (hcp 2), former best female player in the world, gained the upper hand with two very fast actions and bringing the victory to the team of the Domaine La Rouillère.
