From January 30th to February 2nd, 2014, four high goal teams with a handicap up to 18 goals will compete against each other in Switzerland on the frozen Lake St. Moritz in front of the magnificent mountain backdrop. Now the team line-ups have been announced. International top players participate in the tournament and promise exciting polo matches.
This year’s team sponsors are Cartier, BMW, Ralph Lauren and Deutsche Bank with Cartier also presenting the coveted trophy. The supporting programme includes a gala cocktail dinner takes place at the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains on Saturday evening.
The first St. Moritz World Cup on Snow took place in 1985. Today it is one of the oldest, most prestigious and highly remunerated polo tournaments on snow. Each year thousands of spectators come to see four days of exciting chukkers at the highest level. To prepare the horses for the cold and the special demands of conditions at 1,800 metres above sea level, many of them will be undergoing special altitude training in the days and weeks leading up to the World Cup.
