As from today the snow polo ball starts to roll in Italy, too. Six teams with an international line-up compete against each other at the 2014 PIPA ProAm European Snow Polo Championship taking place at the Valcastello Polo Club near Innichen (Italian: San Candido). The final will be held on Sunday, February 2nd. On all three days the games start at 2.00 pm, the arena will be opened at 1.00 pm. Admission to the tournament is free.
The Valcastello Chateau & Polo Club is less than a half-hour drive from the famous ski resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo. In 2013, Kico and Chantal Schettino d’Acquarone opened the polo club to commercial guests. Now it is welcoming all standards of polo players, from experienced polo-playing members and their guests, to novice riders wanting an introduction to the sport. The polo club has an all-season polo field and a stable of handy polo ponies with gear. The snow polo arena field measures 110 x 60 metres.
