A large number of major sports competitions and international music events have taken place in the Olympic Stadium in the north of Stockholm before. Now the sport of polo has found its way into the stadium, too. The facility was built in 1912 for the Olympic Games in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. On 7th of June 2014, the stadium will host an international polo tournament for the first time.
A total of four teams have announced their participation in the Stockholm Polo Cup, one of them from the Polo Club de Chantilly (France) and one from the Ascona Polo Club (Switzerland). The opening ceremony will include a parade of all players and ponies through the center of the city to the stadium. The event is hosted by Stockholm Polo Club.
HYA International Polo Cup
Only one week after the Stockholm Cup ends, another sport highlight is up next on the agenda: On 14th June the HYA International Polo Cup takes place.
Polo school opened
SPC and KA Polo AB announce the opening of the Polo school at SPC home grounds in Stäket this May. The school under the direction of Kaveh Atrak, a player and UK Polo Association qualified instructor with 20 years+ experience of play at all levels in Europe and Americas, will offer customised courses and programs for individuals, groups and teams. The school will cater for learners of all levels Entry, Intermediate and Advanced and Beginners will be especially welcome.

New chairlady
Since the beginning of this year, Isabelle Ducellier is chairlady of the Stockholm Polo Club at Uddnäs Gård, Stäket, Järfälla. The 45-years old woman from France moved to Sweden four year ago. Isabelle is an enthusiastic rider and has started playing polo one year ago: „I have been riding almost all my life from jumping to dressage and since 1 year I am 200% into polo. Last spring, I took some lessons with our fantastic Indian manager Jagat and encouraged by all passionate Stockholm Polo Club members and our dedicated Argentinian grooms , they passed on the polo virus to me so that I bought a 6 year old polo horse in September: Marilyn.“
