On Saturday 25th July 2015, international guests from around the world attended the Pro Alvear Charity Polo tournament at the San Lorenzo Polo Club, Ibiza. Guests including international polo players as well as Prince Casimir zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, Lord Harry Dalmeny, Sophie Moss, Hermione Fleming, Juan Santa Cruz, Ellie Shepherd, Tarka Russell, Richard Livingstone, Alana Bunte, Amanda Sheppard, Francesca Zampi, Ed Hanson, Aristide Faggionato, Lily Lewis and Edouard Guerrand Hermes. Guests sipped Ibizkus Rose and ate traditional Spanish jamon. After the match Hermione Fleming wowed the crowd with a Lady Godiva horseback moment.
The celebrations continued with a private dinner at Blue Marlin, where guests ate sushi followed by wild sea bass with lemon risotto and petit fours. Sotheby’s Lord Harry Dalmeny lead the exhilarating auction with incredible lots including stays at private residences in Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Croatia as well as an electric Fender guitar signed by rock and roll legend Ronnie Wood. The auction raised over €300,000 for the Argentinian charity. After dinner guests danced the night away with music from DJ’s Hugo Heathcote, Iban Mendoza and the Badin Brothers.
The Pro Alvear Foundation supports the educational, social and economic development of the Argentinian Pampas region. The charity was founded more than 12 years ago and has launched and continues to support initiatives that include several IT community centres, science laboratories, sports and music academies, large scale organic vegetable gardens and major forest regeneration projects. These projects are designed to combat poverty and protect hundreds of children in a beautiful and far away part of the world.
