At the 2013 HPA Gaucho International Polo Tournament, which took place at the O2-Arena in London, Argentina with Adolfo Casabal (+8), Oscar Mancini (+6) and Andrea Vianini (+7) defeated England with Jamie Morrison (+8), Max Charlton (+7) und Maurice Ormerod (+6) in a tight-run match that ended 11-10.
Before the fight Argentina against England there were two more international matches. Mexico competed against Scotland and won with 11-10, Hedonism Wines was victorious against Merchant Hub. The event was accompanied by the music of the Argentine band Tanghetto. Their music, which blends tango and electronic music, is called Electrotango. Due to his accident at the St. Regis International Cup a few days before Nacho Figueras could not play for Argentina, as originally planned.
Martin Williams, Managing Director of Gaucho restaurant group: “Now in its third year, the 2013 HPA Gaucho Polo Tournament has been our most spectacular event yet. Hooves pounded, the world’s best polo players battled, hundreds of bottles of Veuve Clicquot were enjoyed and over 300 varieties of Argentinian wine were tasted under one roof at The O2. We hope our guests enjoyed the evening as much as we did – our biggest challenge is going to be making 2014 even bigger and better!”
