Today begin the final matches for the three Copa de Plates of the 42nd Torneo Internacional Land Rover de Polo at the Santa María Polo Club in Sotogrande, Spain. In the final of the Copa de Plata El Corte Inglés today at 7 pm, team Ellerston with the Pieres brothers (both handicap +10) encounters Halcyon Gallery with Charlie Hanbury (+5), Max Routledge (+5), Guillermo Terrera (+7) and Juan Chavenne (+5). In the semi-final Halcyon Gallery defeated UAE Polo Team by 11-9. The result of the other semi-final was again 11-9, with Ellerston beating the Scapa foursome.
Yesterday the finalists of the Copa de Plata Makarthy (Low Goal) and the Copa de Plata Valecuatro (Medium Goal) emerged. In the first semi-final of the Copa de Plata Makarthy recent Copa de Bronce champions Los Dragones with Andrew Nulty (0), Carlos Piñal (+1), Diogo Gallego (+4) and Mariano Iturrioz (+1) made it to another final with an 11-9 win against Blueye Shakib Polo. The Costa Rica foursome consisting of Miguel Gomez (0), Nick Johnson (+2), H. Pieres (+4) und Steve Rose (0) in turn claimed the remaining berth of the low-handicap final by defeating Silex 11-8.
In the first semi-final of the Copa de Plata Valecuatro, Peter Silling (0), Juan Britos (+4), James Beim (+7) und Tommi Beresford (+1) of Equus won against La Indiana by 13-9, and later on in the day Costa Rica with Philip de Groot (0), Felipe Gomez (+1), Tomás Garbarini (+4) and Gonzalo von Werniche (+7) defeated Dr. A by 10-8. Both finals, Low Goal and Medium Goal, will be held this Saturday.
