The finalists for the 2013 Tortugas Open are fixed: As in the previous years, the teams Ellerstina Piaget and La Dolfina Hope Funds will compete for the victory of the first tournament of the Argentine Triple Crown.
The first finalist emerged on Saturday, October 5th when Ellerstina won against Alegría Sancor Seguros by 16-12. In the beginning of the match the reigning champions Ellerstina kept the audience in suspense. After the second chukker Pablo Pieres (+8), Hilario Ulloa (+9), Lucas Monteverde (+9) and Frederick Mannix, Jr. (+8) of team Alegría surprisingly took the lead, 4-0. But from that moment on Ellerstina took over and dominated the match. At half time they equalised by 5-5 and at the end of the sixth chukker the Pieres brothers Facundo (+10), Gonzalo (+10) and Nicolás (+9) as well as Mariano Aguerre (+10) had took the lead by 12-9. In the end Ellerstina defeated Alegría by 16-12 and the team now has the chance to win the final of the Tortugas Open for the seventh time in succession.
But La Dolfina Hope Funds will definitely not make it easy for the foursome. In the second semi-final on Sunday, October 6th, team La Natividad got played off the park by the team of Adolfo Cambiaso (+10), owing to a perfect interaction and uncompromising attacks of the team last-mentioned. With the start of the second chukker Adolfo Cambiaso (+10), David Stirling (+9), Pablo Mac Donough (+10) and Juan Martín Nero (+10) controlled the match and literally overran La Natividad with Guillermo Caset (+9), Ignacio Heguy (+9), Rodrigo Ribeiro de Andrade (+8) and Bartolomé Castagnola (+9).
The final of the Tortugas Open for the Copa Emilio Anchorena Gran Premio Audi presented by Citi will take place on Saturday, October 12th at 3.30 pm (local time) at the Tortugas Country Club.
Ellerstina has already won the Tortugas Open for ten times in all, while La Dolfina has failed until now.
