Team Audi defends title

In the final of the 2013 USPA North American Cup at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida, team Audi was victorious. Nic Roldan, Marc Ganzi, Carlitos Gracida and Michel Dorignac defeated the opposing team Casablanca with Grant Ganzi, Brandon Phillips, Mike Azzaro and Jeff Hall by 11-10 and thereby repeated last year’s success. Grant Ganzi competed against his father, Marc Ganzi, and had to admit defeat in this father-son duel.

At the start, Audi received one goal by handicap from Casablanca. Nevertheless, the two teams played a well-balanced game, sometimes team Audi was on top, sometimes the foursome of team Casablanca was in front. At the end of the first half, team Audi took the lead and was two goals ahead at half-time, 6-4.

At the beginning of the sixth and last chukker Casablanca temporarily was on top by 9-8, but Audi took the lead once again and did not let the advantage slip away. The ringing of the chukker bell ended the match and Audi left the field as the winning team by 11-10. Michel Dorignac was named Most Valuable Player and Mike Azzaro’s Gypsy Girl was honoured Best Playing Pony.
