The Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly marks its 30th anniversary with a flagship tournament while POLO+10 renews its partnership with one of Europe’s leading polo venues
The Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a clear statement: the future of polo is built on its history. At the heart of the season stands the Legends Tournament (June 25–28), a tribute to the players, patrons and teams that have shaped Chantilly over the past three decades.
Since its foundation by Patrick Guerrand-Hermès in the mid-1990s, Chantilly has followed a distinct vision: to make polo visible, accessible and vibrant. Over the years, the club has become one of Europe’s leading polo destinations; not only for its sporting level but also as a place where the game is transmitted, shared and constantly renewed.
This anniversary is also an opportunity to recall some of the major milestones that have built Chantilly’s international reputation since 1996: the European Championship in 1999, the World Championship in 2004, {a memorable event that attracted players from every continent and 21,000 spectators, 7,000 of whom were in attendance on the day of the Brazil v England final; the launch of the Open de France in 2000, now a key fixture on the global calendar, followed by its “little sister” in 2010, the French Women’s Open and, more recently (2024), the creation of the Polo Nations Cup and its women’s edition (2025).
The club has also hosted a series of prestigious high-goal test matches, including a memorable France v. Argentina clash played under torrential rain in 2016 and a France v. USA match staged during the Paris 2024 Games, marking the centenary of the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, when polo was still part of the program; as well as women’s and men’s internationals such as a France v. England women’s match and a France v. Brazil men’s match last season. Chantilly is today unique in bringing together, on a single site, nine grass fields alongside one of the world’s finest arenas.
The Legends Tournament reflects this history. Former top-level players, emblematic figures of the club and long-standing patrons come together in balanced teams, celebrating not only performance but the spirit of the game. Many of the great names who have marked Chantilly — from leading international players to iconic teams — have contributed to shaping its identity over the years.
Thus, over the years, Chantilly has been shaped by strong personalities and iconic teams, from patrons such as André Fabre, one of the world’s leading racehorse trainers, who made his mark on the field with In The Wings alongside players like Pancho Bensadon and Lucas Monteverde, to figures such as Philippe Fatien, the king of Parisian nights, Bruno Bensoussan, Jean-Yves Garaud, Benoît André and Claude Solarz, among others, who have all contributed to the club’s unique identity and whom we will see again for some during this Legends Tournament.
The fields have also welcomed some of the greatest names in international polo, including multiple winners and finalists of the Argentine Open, from the Heguy brothers in 2002 to Pelon Stirling in 2025, reflecting Chantilly’s enduring connection to the highest level of the sport. A total of fourteen winners of the Argentina Open, plus six other finalists!
The Legends Tournament takes place within a busy international polo calendar in Chantilly. Running alongside are the Polo Nations Cup (June 12–27), the Ladies Polo Nations Cup (June 22–27), and the Mini Polo Nations Cup for young players, creating a unique combination of top-level competition and the development of the next generation.
POLO+10, one of the most established international polo media platforms and a long-standing partner of the club, will once again provide dedicated coverage of the event, contributing to its international visibility.
