Under its new “Home of Sports Cars”, Porsche brings together everything that goes beyond the series-production car: performance, personalisation and heritage. Its key partner is Manthey, the racing specialist from the Nürburgring, in which Porsche now holds a majority stake.
Stuttgart. People who drive a Porsche rarely want one like everyone else’s. That is the idea behind the “Home of Sports Cars”. It brings together the services Porsche offers its most demanding clients in three areas: Performance (including Manthey), Exclusiveness (Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur) and Heritage. Personalisation leads the way, and Porsche intends to expand it further. The initiative is part of the company’s “Sportwagenschmiede ’35” strategy.
To strengthen its performance business, Porsche has increased its stake in Manthey Racing GmbH to 67 per cent. “Manthey has been a trusted Porsche partner for many years. It is firmly rooted in the motorsport community and has a loyal customer base. We want to build on that,” says Dr Michael Leiters, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. Together, the two companies plan to create few-off special models, performance kits and exclusive track experiences.
30 Years of GT Expertise
Manthey is based close to the Nürburgring and is one of the most successful names in customer racing. It combines 30 years of GT expertise with an impressive record:
- seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours
- six class wins at Le Mans
- several titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the DTM
It all began with the racing successes of company founder Olaf Manthey. That has grown into a range of performance products and experiences prized by collectors and gentleman drivers alike. Since 2020, Porsche and Manthey have developed nine Manthey kits together, from the 911 and the 718 to the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.
From Racetrack to Road
“Mutual trust has been the foundation of our successful collaboration for many years,” says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey. His brother Martin Raeder, also Managing Director, adds: “By working even more closely together, Porsche and Manthey can make even better use of existing synergies and potential and further strengthen the bridge between motorsport and series-production vehicles.”
For clients, this means that what has been developed and proven on the racetrack becomes a car of their own. Whether it is a rare special model, a performance package for their own car or a driving experience on one of the great circuits, the offer is aimed at clients looking for more than a fast sports car.
