The second edition of the San Eugenio Ladies Cup was a great success. And the winner is La Dolfina Brava I ! During 3 days, the 6 ladies teams were fighting hard for the champion title. The first two days, under a beautiful autumn sun, the players showed their best polo skills and ponies in 5 chukker games. Games were tight, exciting to watch and thanks to the amazing quality of the polo fields, ponies could run extremely fast allowing the players to play real open games.
On the third day, the first game called Copa Amistad, saw Polo Park Zürich playing against La Dolfina Brava II who won 6-3. In the second game, Copa Cavalier was won by Matryoshka Polo Team against La Araucaria-Escorihuela Gascon 7-6 1/2 with a thrilling final chukker with the last shot of Veronica Magnasco from La Araucaria entering the goal 3 seconds after the bell.
The final game named by the main sponsor Stella Artois, saw an impressive game opposing El Metejon (already finalists last year) and la Dolfina Brava. The battle between Fleur Van Andel from El Metejon (3 goals handicap) and the very talented young player Milagros Sanchez (6 goals) was epic. The suspense was not only on the field but also in the sky with menacing storms. Rain arrived 42 seconds before the end of the last chukker. Players continued the game which ended with the victory of La Dolfina Brava I 5-4.
The party continued as soon as the rain stopped with the prize giving ceremony. This year, San Eugenio Polo Club invited the 2 finalist teams of Circuito Este for Copa Republica Argentina to celebrate all together the end of a beautiful polo day. Prizes were not only given to our Ladies but also to the gentlemen, and the party went on with a great asado, DJ, bars from Stella Artois and Escorihuela Gascon who entertained all guests long into the night. The dancing was stupendous!
The closure of the tournament was a full polo party with members of all polo clubs around, coming to celebrate San Francisco de Asis for qualifying for the Copa Republica and La Dolfina Brava I, first high goal champion of 2018!
