Excitement is building, and preparations are about to begin. From July 30 to August 3, 2025, Polo Club Sylt will once again host the Berenberg German Polo Masters, presenting the world’s oldest team sport. For five days, the polo grounds in Keitum-Siidik will become a hotspot for polo enthusiasts. Six teams from five nations, around 140 horses, over 20 exhibitors, and several thousand guests – the countdown is on.
For nearly 25 years, the Hamburg-based private bank Berenberg has been one of the leading supporters of polo in Germany – and is once again setting the standard in 2025. Founded in 1590, Berenberg will return as title sponsor of this top-class tournament.
Klaus Naeve, Head of Wealth and Asset Management, says:
“We’re thrilled to once again bring world-class polo to Keitum for the many locals and visitors. Exciting sport at the highest level combined with a diverse program offers something for everyone. That’s what makes this tournament a celebration for the whole family!”
The 2025 teams – strong, versatile, and ambitious
Team Berenberg enters the tournament with title ambitions. Udo Klein-Boelting, who won the German Polo Masters in 2023, teams up with Laura Fass, Argentine strategist Lala Laplacette, and power player Marcos Rooney to form a formidable quartet.
Defending champion König Sylt relies on continuity and talent. With Frederick Többe, one of Germany’s best young players, joined by his father Jan-Hendrik Többe, Raul Laplacette, and Secundo Copello, the team is determined to retain its title.
Clé de Peau Beauté makes its debut in Keitum, writing a new chapter in Sylt’s polo history. Founded in Japan in 1982 with a mission to redefine the boundaries of skin cell science, the brand fields a team with two female players for the first time: European Championship player Maike Hölty and Birgit Schreyer from Austria, joined by Argentinians Jorge Reta and Jose Riglos.
Team Burckhardt’s Glide is a true powerhouse. German High Goal champions Max Singhoff and Christopher Kirsch are joined by local favorite Sven Schneider and Argentine pro Pato Lalor. Burckhardt’s Glide stands for premium quality with its frameless window and glass façade systems.
Polo debut for Lucid Motors: The California-based company is celebrating its first appearance as a team sponsor at the Berenberg German Polo Masters. Not only is Lucid bringing an enthusiastic, international polo team to Sylt, it’s also showcasing its visionary electric vehicles at the tournament grounds. On July 6, 2025, the Lucid Air Grand Touring set a Guinness World Record for the longest drive by an electric vehicle without recharging – covering 1,205 kilometers from St. Moritz to Munich. A world record – congratulations!
Lucid will be present at the Berenberg German Polo Masters on Sylt with a large show trailer and a dazzling lineup of electric vehicles.
Team Zuckerhut & Matterhorn features a lineup with deep Sylt experience: Vanessa Schockemöhle, Sebastian Schneberger, and Cristobal Durrieu play alongside Patrick Maleitzke, a Sylt native and one of Germany’s top three polo players.
Hosts of the Polo Players Night are the sponsor duo Zuckerhut & Matterhorn – Pius Regli (Manne Pahl) and Anaisio Guedes (Airport Gallery) – who are also competing in the tournament for the first time with their own polo team.
