Day 6 of the Cartier Queen’s Cup: Team El Remanso win 14:9 again Team Clinova at Guards Polo Club. Charlie Hanbury’s El Remanso team can relax a little tomorrow after securing their first league victory in the 2018 Cartier Queen’s Cup. They dominated Adrian Kirby’s Clinova, defeating them 14 – 9 in a match on The Queen’s Ground that, despite the score, was flowing and not interrupted by too many whistles. Hanbury can take much of the credit for his team’s success today, scoring six of his team’s 14 goals. Although El Remanso’s hallmark has always been team-work and this game was no exception. Not only did the team mark their opponents well – every time Juan Gris Zavaleta had the ball two El Remanso players were on him – every member of this all-English team, including Ollie Cudmore, James Beim and James Harper, found the flags too. Clinova had to rely on another Englishman, Malcolm Borwick, for the majority of their goals – he fired through four penalties and a field goal – but it was not enough to challenge El Remanso’s early lead. Charlie’s team were 8-4 up at half-time, giving them a comfortable cushion. Clinova made the most of their penalties to creep back into contention by the end of the fifth, but then failed to score at all in the sixth and final chukka, handing the win to El Remanso.
