Long Island / Hanover, 20.07.2021 | (kms) – Just a few miles away from New York City is the “Sylt of New York”: Long Island known for being a hideaway for the rich and beautiful. In the popular Hamptons, New York’s upper class spends time at the beach, surfing and kayaking, or in one of the numerous restaurants. The island’s rich history is marked by American celebrities.

Immerse yourself in the world of Great Gatsby
Long Island’s Gold Coast allows you to immerse yourself in the glamorous era of the Great Gatsby. The author of the novel with the same name, F. Scott Fitzgerald, lived on Long Island from 1922 and is today considered one of the essential U.S. writers. Surrounded by magnificent gardens, the opulent mansions he describes in his novel were built in the elegant style of the 1920s and are now partly open to tourists. On guided tours through the magnificent estates with luxurious furnishings, visitors experience a journey back in time to the roaring 1920s and feel a real “Great Gatsby feeling”.

A Hollywood scenery you can touch
One of the impressive stately homes that also opens its doors to visitors is the “Old Westbury Gardens” estate. The formerly private country estate is not only as a museum in the midst of colorful show gardens but is also a popular location for cultural festivities or private parties. Some Hollywood celebrities also know and appreciate “Old Westbury Gardens”: Nicolas Cage and Joaquin Phoenix shot the film “8mm” here. But the tranquil estate is also used as a backdrop for productions such as “American Gangster” and “Gossip Girl.

Oheka Castle – The second largest mansion in the USA was built by a German
The majestic Oheka Castle is considered one of the most impressive buildings in the Hamptons. With its 125 individually decorated rooms, it is now used as a hotel. The French chalet was commissioned in 1914 by German banker and entrepreneur Otto Hermann Kahn, who used the property as a summer home. He organized glamorous parties in what is now the second largest mansion in the U.S., where heads of state and celebrities were welcome guests – very much in the style of the Great Gatsby.

Relaxing time out in nature

For those who do not want to think about the wild parties of the 1920s but looking for a relaxing time-out far away from the urban jungle, Long Island offers countless recreational opportunities. The bright sandy beaches are known as the most beautiful in the world and invite you to sunbathe or stroll along the boardwalk. The well-kept parks and idyllic forests of Long Island provide a unique place for extensive hikes and adventurous bike rides followed by picnics in the open air. A popular destination in the region is the Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park. Located near the town of Easter Bay on Long Island. The Park pleased visitors with several thousand species of plants planted in impressive formations. History buffs can visit the park’s Coe Hall Historic House Museum to learn about the history of the house and the families who once lived there.

About Discover Long Island
Discover Long Island was founded in 1979 under the name Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau & Sports Commission as an official agency to promote the regional travel and tourism industry. The organization contributes to Long Island’s economic development and quality of life by promoting the region to the public as a top-rated destination for tourism, meetings and conventions, trade shows, sporting events and other major events.

LOUVRE ABU DHABI AND RICHARD MILLE CREATE NEW EXHIBITION AND ART PRIZE TO SHOWCASE RISING CONTEMPORARY ART TALENT

Louvre Abu Dhabi and Swiss watchmaking brand Richard Mille have jointly announced the launch of a new annual exhibition – to be called Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here – and the creation of The Richard Mille Art Prize, with the aim of promoting the best of contemporary art. For its inaugural year, the exhibition and prize will shine a spotlight on Emirati and UAE-based artists as part of the UAE’s wider 50-year Jubilee celebrations.

Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here will be an exciting new international exhibition which will serve as an annual platform to showcase contemporary artists working in a variety of media. Each year the exhibition will see four to six artists selected through an open call for proposals, with each exhibiting their artwork in the Forum, a space of interaction and exchange within Louvre Abu Dhabi dedicated to contemporary art. Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2021 will take place in November of this year.

Following their submissions, one of the chosen artists will be awarded The Richard Mille Art Prize, with the announcement of the winner to take place in a ceremony organised at Louvre Abu Dhabi. The annual cash reward of US$50,000 will be part of a ten-year commitment between the museum and Richard Mille.

“The announcement of the creation of The Richard Mille Art Prize and the Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here exhibition is the latest reminder that Abu Dhabi is accelerating its support and promotion of local creative talent, while simultaneously cementing its position as an attractive and inspiring destination for global creatives,” said HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. “We already know that world-class artists live among us. This new prize and accompanying exhibition will serve to spotlight the best of current UAE artistic talent in a year where our nation is both celebrating 50 years of achievement and looking forward to the next 50.”

Today’s open call for proposals invites submissions from Emirati and UAE-based artists around the theme of ‘Memory, Time and Territory’. This theme has particular resonance in the context of the UAE‘s Jubilee celebrations, allowing artists to reflect on the country‘s legacy as a territory where questions of past, present and future combine and overlap. Proposals may be submitted until 31 August. The shortlist of candidates will be selected by a jury of international art experts, to be announced at a later date.

Peter Harrison, CEO of Richard Mille EMEA, said, “In a few short years, Louvre Abu Dhabi has become one of the most iconic art museums in the world. Richard Mille and Louvre Abu Dhabi are both built upon the tenets of excellence in innovation, artistry, mastery and savoir-faire. As an avid art collector, I have long been inspired by the visionary perspectives brought to light by contemporary artists. Therefore, I’m especially proud to see this collaboration between Louvre Abu Dhabi and Richard Mille come to life, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artistic talent. The Richard Mille Art Prize will redefine the benchmarks of contemporary creativity, with a goal to offer exceptional artists the opportunity to create a new dimension of their potential.”

“Our partnership with Richard Mille represents a mutual, long-term commitment to supporting contemporary artistic talent within the UAE and this region, while connecting Louvre Abu Dhabi to its territory,” said Manuel Rabaté, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi. “We aim to provide these artists with a highly visible platform from which to come together and showcase their work to both our community and the global audience. This initiative also represents a decisive step forward by Louvre Abu Dhabi into the arena of contemporary art, as we further expand on our mission to shine a light on the cultural connections which unite us all.”

The announcement of the winner of the inaugural Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2021 and The Richard Mille Art Prize will run parallel to the UAE’s cultural season, which is made up of Dubai Expo 2020, Abu Dhabi Art, Dubai Design Week and Art Dubai; an exciting addition to a growing local calendar celebrating modern-day creativity. Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2021 exhibition will run from November 2021 to March 2022.

Compass Rose – A Unique Dining Experience Reimagined

Designed by the multi-award-winning Studio DADO, Seven Seas Grandeur’s elevation of luxury travel begins with the cruise line’s signature speciality restaurant Compass Rose, the menu of which allows guests to uniquely curate their own dining experience on every visit.

“Restaurants on board all Regent ships are exquisite, but for Seven Seas Grandeur’s Compass Rose we wanted to create a space that was truly a feast for the eyes,” said Yohandel Ruiz, founding partner, Studio DADO. “This new design of Compass Rose will pique guests’ curiosity and sense of wonder before they have even set foot in the restaurant, and go on to delight with a sumptuous, personalised meal in dramatic and beautiful surroundings. It’s a dining experience that they will regale friends and family with time and again.”

A beautiful cascading waterfall sculpture welcomes guests

The captivating new design of Compass Rose starts outside the restaurant, with a delicate, cascading waterfall sculpture imbuing tranquillity and fashioned with laser-cut metal and hand-blown glass. Once inside, guests will be greeted by a canopy of interwoven crystal and wood-edge illuminated trees arching overhead, giving the impression of dining in a beautiful and enchanted forest.

A canopy of interwoven crystal and wood-edge illuminated trees envelops the restaurant

As the sun goes down and dinner is served, guests will be awe-struck by the floor to ceiling illumination of the thousands of individually placed crystal-faceted leaves which are encrusted on the kaleidoscope of pillars and branches enveloping the restaurant. A star-dusted view of the ocean is also provided by hundreds of twinkling lights surrounding the windows.

Adding to the atmospheric dining experience will be a custom-designed mural by Confluent Studios. Crafted with gold-leaf and Verre Eglomisé, the mural will depict the flora and fauna at the forest’s edge making the restaurant appear endless.

Star-dusted ocean views

Ruiz continued, “Our goal was to create a space that is magical and transformative which, much like Compass Rose’s menu, has the potential to delight guests with something new each time they dine.”

Providing more choice than cruise travellers will have experienced before, Compass Rose offers a tantalising mix of new and familiar items on every visit. Guests are able to design their very own entrée from preferred sides, sauces, pastas and main features such as Black Angus filet mignon, New Zealand lamb chops, Maine lobster tail and king sea scallops. The restaurant also has daily changing specials, as well as a wide vegan and vegetarian menu.

Originally Planned European Sailings Anticipated to Go Ahead with First Voyage Around the UK Multi-Layered SailSAFE™ Health & Safety Programme Implemented to Guide Restart

SOUTHAMPTON, April 28, 2021Regent Seven Seas Cruises® today announced its return to sailing with Seven Seas Splendor cruising from the UK beginning September 2021. The voyage will mark the cruise line’s return to service, as well as Seven Seas Splendor’s inaugural season, with the ship having only completed two cruises with guests after being christened in February 2020. With a phased return to sailing for the rest of the fleet, luxury travellers will soon be able to once again enjoy the unrivalled Regent experience with the peace of mind that comes with the multi-layered SailSAFE™ health and safety programme.

“Come September we will have the double celebration of our return to the seas as we also recommence the inaugural season of the ship that perfects luxury, Seven Seas Splendor,” said Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer, Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “With immaculate design, luxurious suites, exquisite cuisine, dynamic entertainment and outstanding personalised service, Seven Seas Splendor was one of the most highly anticipated ships to launch in the history of cruising, and my promise to our loyal and eager guests is that without a doubt she will be worth the wait.”

The cruise line intends to preserve originally planned itineraries, as much as the global health environment at the time allows, presenting guests with the exceptional cruise and destination experience which they have come to expect from Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The first cruise in her inaugural season has Seven Seas Splendor scheduled to set sail September 11, 2021 for an 11-night voyage, round-trip from Southampton, England visiting Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. After her initial voyage, the ship will transition to explore the beautiful Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic to sail in the Caribbean. While many of her sailings are already sold out, there are still opportunities to cruise later in Seven Seas Splendor’s European season, and in the Caribbean early 2022.

To ensure a smooth and safe resumption of operations, the remainder of the Regent fleet’s return to sailing will be announced at future dates, with voyage suspensions now extended through September 30, 2021 for Seven Seas Explorer ® , Seven Seas Mariner ® , Seven Seas Navigator ® , and Seven Seas Voyager ® . In conjunction with today’s announcement, Seven Seas Splendor’s voyages are suspended up until her September 11, 2021 voyage from Southampton.

Multi-Layered SailSAFE Health & Safety Programme

During its voluntary suspension of sailings, Regent Seven Seas Cruises built upon its existing comprehensive health and safety protocols by establishing the SailSAFE health and safety programme, a robust and sciencebacked strategy that creates multiple layers of protection against COVID-19. The Programme was developed with guidance from a team of public health and scientific experts including the SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council.

“The well-being of our guests, crew and communities we visit has always been of paramount importance, and our SailSAFE health and safety programme ensures it continues to be without diminishing the guest experience,” continued Montague. “Offering unrivalled space at sea, our ships perfectly balance safety with comfort and freedom through spacious suites, multiple gourmet dining options and expansive, social areas.”

By visiting RSSC.com/HealthSafetyProtocols, guests and Travel Partners can see an overview of current requirements to sail – such as all guests and crew being fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to departure and having universal testing – all which the cruise line believes will provide a uniquely safe and healthy holiday experience. The cruise line has confirmed that these and other requirements will be in place until a time when the protocols can be confidently adjusted, and that Regent will constantly monitor the global health environment to protect the safety and security of guests, crew and communities visited. Specific requirements to sail will be communicated directly to guests closer to the time of sailing.

About the SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council

The SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council (“Council”) was established by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. to provide expert advice on the implementation, compliance with and continuous improvement of the Company’s SailSAFE health and safety programme. The Council will complement the work of the Healthy Sail Panel and continuously evaluate and identify ways to improve health and safety standards after cruise voyages resume, utilising the best technologies and information available. The Council is cross-functional, diverse and extensively experienced, comprised of six experts at the forefront of their fields and led by Chairman of the Council, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

NINETY is a new luxury concept located in the heart of Mayfair. Conceived as a progressive relationship between product and experience, the brand aims to combine the most sought after and rarest of watches and jewellery with tailored, exemplary service; all housed in a beautiful Mayfair boutique. The project is owned by Peter Harrison, and operated by his daughter Tilly and her business partner Ben Cleary, the jewellery expert. The two are determined to depart from a conventional sales approach and instead aim to engender longstanding and two-way relationships with their clients – acting not only as the predominant destination for seekers of pre-owned Richard Mille pieces and high jewellery, but also as a trusted and specialist resource, and point of reference to service any client requirement within the luxury market.

The boutique itself is a reflection of this distinct approach; ensconced within the most exclusive retail street in London, the design eschews all traditional norms – orientated towards a relaxed and immersive experience for customers. The displays are minimal yet invariably impressive; trading cluttered quantity for striking quality, and the pieces themselves are showcased throughout the store in a series of private and intimate spaces.

The impression and feel are one of a private Mayfair apartment, rather than a typical transactional retail store; in the words of Project Designers B.A.D Studios “the objective was to create a modern-day retail aesthetic whilst maintaining traditional features in keeping with the residential feel of the interiors”. In a collaborative effort alongside the bespoke interior designer, Interiors by Kitty, their overarching vision was to create an aesthetic which is at once sophisticated and timeless, underpinned by a comprehensive heritage, hand-crafted finish”. In fact, the heart of the boutique lies beyond the main entrance, in the elegant lounge at the rear, where clients can sit comfortably and look through an array of treasures in private, and downstairs where a hidden, intimate bar showcases their latest artwork for sale in a haven away from the outside bustle.

Part of the Richard Mille EMEA group, and designated as the official and exclusive pre-owned retailer in Europe and the Middle East, NINETY represents an evolution in the rapidly emerging, but currently murky pre-owned market. A reputable and trustworthy destination, which houses its own Richard Mille trained watchmaker and workshop, along with a team of experienced specialists from all aspects of the luxury market, NINETY is the place to curate, grow or sell your collection with confidence, and in comfort.

Ready for a movie: A time-out like in a blockbuster Untouched sandy beach, tropical flora and 3,500 Aldabra giant tortoises: A beach day at Anse Parc on Fregate Island Private resembles a cinematic scene

Picturesque nature, dense tropical forests and large reptiles that play the main role: What sounds like the description of the blockbuster “Jurassic Park” is reality on the private Seychelles island Fregate Island Private. Whoever lands here by helicopter not only enters an exotic-tropical natural paradise, but also feels transported back to a time in which humans were far from existing. With a size of two square kilometers and only 17 private villas, guests on Fregate Island Private reside in absolute seclusion, while 3,500 leisurely Aldabra giant tortoises call the island their home – and anyone who finds their way through the dense jungle resembling Jurassic Park to the beach Anse Parc feels transported to a film backdrop here at the latest. Further information is available at www.fregate.com.

With a total of seven dream beaches and a diverse range of endemic flora and fauna, guests on Fregate immerse themselves in an absolute natural paradise – even a visit to the beach is like an exciting adventure! Thanks to its geological location, the island has powder-white sandy beaches in front of spectacular granite rocks, while blockbuster fans get their money’s worth in a special bay – the western coast of Fregate is like a cinematic backdrop that could have sprung from a Jurassic Park strip. But to get to the remote stretch of beach, you first go on a discovery tour: either on your own or on a guided tour with the island’s conservation team off the beaten track – one leads along the Tortoise Trail.

On the approximately one-hour hiking trail there are not only endemic bird species to be discovered, because the trail leads past a turtle graveyard and through dense jungle, where in the middle of the tropical green is a 300-year-old pirate ruin. The trail continues through dense, untouched forests of palm trees and endemic Takamaka trees. Whoever hears a loud hissing sound here will most likely encounter one of the many turtles retreating into their shell a few steps later – this is not a defense mechanism, however, the hissing sound is produced when the neck is pulled into the shell. Every single path of the island’s eleven kilometers of hiking trails is due to the gentle giants, who have found their way through the wild botany to the sea and thus developed their own routes. At the end of the path you can already see the glittering sea, which meets black rocks here at Anse Parc and underscores the natural beach spectacle. Sun-seekers are then spoilt for choice: let their gaze wander across the ocean to the neighboring Seychelles Islands or listen to the Aldabra giant tortoises and watch them roam the film set.

Emerald Collection is delighted to announce that Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA will officially open on 4th December 2019. A real first in terms of spectacular and unusual design and with an outstanding deluxe all-inclusive offering, guests will be wowed by this exceptional new resort.

Unusual to any private island, Emerald Maldives houses a wraparound reef which means guests are never more than a few footsteps away from an encounter with exotic fish, turtles or manta rays. The 120-villa resort is located on the Raa Atoll, renowned for having some of the most diverse marine life in the world and boasts one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives.

“With Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA, we wanted to create a sanctuary for guests who wish to escape the pressures and stress of modern day life. For couples, the new resort offers intimacy and an oasis of calm and connection, while for families, the island is a fun-filled haven and the perfect recipe for long lasting memories,” comments Simone Scarapicchia, Partner and Director of Sales & Marketing for Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA.

Designed by architect Edward David Poole, each villa exudes contemporary and tropical influences to create modern and unique interiors. From the outside, the villas blend harmoniously with the backdrop of the serene, tropical island and on the inside awaits nothing short of a masterpiece. Poole’s striking design includes enormous sparkling, white marble bathrooms with lavish silver mirrors and colour blocked bedrooms with exotic marine life wall art to compliment.

All guests stay on deluxe all-inclusive basis, which means when they arrive at Emerald Maldives, they don’t have to worry about a thing. Deluxe all-inclusive allows guests to dine at any of the four resort’s restaurants as many times as they like during their stay. They can help themselves to the villa mini bar which is restocked every day, enjoy premium spirits and all non-motorised water sports at no additional cost.

When it comes to dining, Emerald hasn’t missed a trick, covering cuisine from every continent there are four fantastic restaurants to choose from, each with their own menu, style, theme and ambience. Boasting the first and only South American restaurant in the Maldives is the popular Amazonico, serving dishes like ceviche with passion fruit dressing and meats and fish from the huge open fire grill which takes centre stage in this atmospheric restaurant. Nestled in the centre of the island amongst the palm trees, there are red lanterns which are strategically placed to mirror the effect of an open campfire, offering guests an authentic rainforest experience! Carefully curated by head Chef Aldo Cadu, other culinary highlights include Asiatique’s live cooking shows in front of the teppanyaki grill and fresh Maldivian lobster at the Beach Club Grill Restaurant. The signature Aqua Restaurant offers bare-foot luxury at its finest, and with a variety of cooking stations chefs are able to bring guest’s culinary dreams to life.

Emerald Maldives offers extensive water sports facilities, and some of the best diving in the Maldives at the five star Diving Centre where guests can even get their PADI licence. Spanning 1500 sqm, the resort’s Dolphin Kids Club is one of the largest in the Maldives with its own zip wire that journey’s from one side of the island to the other and welcomes kids from the age of 3-12 on a complimentary basis.

Home to a sumptuous haven of tranquillity,  Emerald SPA, can be found a secluded corner of the private island, offering a range of Bailnese and Thai treatments across 10 air-conditioned treatment rooms, as well as a Turkish bath, sauna and jacuzzi. Elemis treatments are also available for guests seeking a sensory wellness experience with a difference. Situated on one of the quietest parts of the island, the Yoga Pavilion is the perfect setting to truly switch off and offers breath-taking sunrise yoga sessions. The resort has also been built with sports and fitness lovers in mind with two large tennis courts, two paddle courts and an air-conditioned Gym & Sports Centre with a state-of-the-art Technogym. Personal trainers are available to all guests too.

The resort has prioritised sustainability by using long-lasting Langhi Langhi leaves to build the canopies, and solar panels on every villa to power the entire resort’s hot water. In a bid to reduce single-use plastic waste, the resort uses paper straws as well as glass bottles and the island is home to a recyclable water irrigation system and composting facility.
