From April 12th to 19th, 2014 the “Copa Agua Alta”, one of the most important polo tournaments in Mexico, will take place in the Costa Careyes Polo Club. For the first time POLO+10 will be present and report live from the Mexican event.
The Copa Agua Alta is part of the Costa Careyes Polo Festival which is held from April 12th to 26th. In 2000, the event was created by Giorgio Brigone, the owner of Costa Careyes Polo Club, and Alberto Ardissone, both enthusiastic polo fans. The intention was to create a tournament where polo is celebrated with exciting matches completed by social and cultural events for a whole week. Nowadays the Copa Agua Alta has won a fixed place in the international tournament calendar and now takes place for the 15th time.
The Copa Agua Alta has three different categories. From April 12th to 19th teams with a handicap from 8-goals to 10-goals will compete, from April 15th to 19th teams with a handicap of 4-goals will play and from April 22th to 24th matches and polo lessons for the junior enthusiast will occur.
After the Copa Agua Alta, Costa Careyes Polo Festival will go on with the Copa de Oro from April 24th to 26th. The two-day tournament will be played in the league 16-goals to 18-goals and is one of the highlights in the Mexican polo scene.
The Costa Careyes Polo Club is part of the Resort Costa Careyes. The location at the seaside of Costalegre in the state of Jalisco offers not only excellent conditions for exclusive polo tournaments but also provides the opportunity to spend a relaxing week at the festival.
