Dubai Falcons Wins the Patrons Ramadan Cup 2023

15 April: The first edition of the Patrons Ramadan Cup 2023 consisted of 4 teams of 4 patrons each, in a two games tournament – Dubai Eagles, Dubai Falcons, Dubai Lions and Tigers.

The subsidiary final of the tournament had seen Dubai Eagles taking the lead, as Tariq Al Habtoor opened the match with smashing goal in the first chukker with 3 goals to 1 by Dubai Tigers. The Eagles dominated the first half of the game, ending it with 5 goals to 1 by halftime. The Dubai Eagles scored 2 more goals by the end of the penultimate chukker as Dubai Tigers scored one more goal. In the end, it was Dubai Eagles who maintained its lead with 7 goals and sealed the win at 10 goals against 3.

Sheikha Alyaa Al Maktoum of Dubai Lions opened the final match of the day, as she carved 0.5 goal lead in the first chukker for her team. Al Habtoor scored one goal each keeping a strong hold until the halftime, with 4.5 goals to 2 against the Lions. As the two teams battled on the field with only a 0.5 goal lead in the final chukker, ultimately it was the Dubai Falcons who ended the game at 6.5 to 6 goals, as the winners of Patrons Ramadan Cup 2023.

Bangash – Bhansali Polo Takes Home the Dubai Challenge Cup 2023

19 March 2023: The third tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series concluded with two exciting matches on the grounds of Al Habtoor Polo Club.

Orbis – Mahra Polo began the match with a 1.5 goal advantage, and in the second chukker, Tomas Palacios brought their score up to 2.5. However, it was Khalid Bin Drai who finished off the second chukker with a hat trick of goals, resulting in a score of 4 – 2.5 in favor of Bin Drai Polo. The blue shirted players of Bin Drai team kept their lead in the penultimate chukker with 7 goals to 2.5, and by the end of the final chukker, Ali Al Merri and Segundo Amadori from Bin Drai Polo had taken Orbis – Mahra ahead of its competition, ultimately securing a victory for Bin Drai Polo with a score of 9 – 6.5.

The final featured a match between Bangash – Bhansali Polo and Habtoor – Ankora Polo. Jose Riglos for Habtoor Ankora Polo opened the score with brilliant two back to back goals, not long after Tomas Iriarte from the opposing team responded with two penalty shots, ending the first chukker with only 0.5 advantage. The Habtoor – Ankora Polo dominated the first half of the game and maintained their lead with 0.5 goal advantage by the end of the penultimate chukker. However, it was the team in grey – Rishi Bhansali, Tomas Iriarte and two goals from Federico Von Potobsky who sealed the win for Bangash Bhansali at 11.5 goals to 8.

UAE Polo Triumps as the Champions of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023

04 March 2023: In the IFZA Gold Cup 2023, the tournament‘s climax showcased the best polo teams of the season in a thrilling competition for the highly sought-after Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series trophy. The occasion was brimming with sportsmanship, live entertainment, elegance, amusement, and enticing rewards and presents for its audience and spectators.

The Bentley Subsidiary Final of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023 started with a fiery match between Ghantoot Polo and Dubai Wolves by CAFU, with Carlos Ulloa scoring the opening goal and Pablo Llorente Jr. quickly tying the match in the first chukker. The Patron of the Wolves, Habtoor Al Habtoor scored a great goal with Ulloa’s last second goal at the end, leading the team with two goals advantage towards the second. The Wolves had taken complete possession during the third, as the black shirted players of Dubai Wolves carved a 3 goal lead. In the final chukker, it was Teodoro Lacau from the Dubai Wolves who brought the score to a double digit, and with Ulloa ending the game at 11 goals to 8, that sealed the win for the Dubai Wolves by CAFU.

The final match of the Dubai Open 2023 was eagerly awaited, as it featured two of the strongest contenders of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023 tournament – the UAE Polo and IFZA Habtoor Polo teams.

Tommy Beresford nicked the first goal of the match for UAE Polo. Shortly after, Juan Jauretche and Bautista Bayugar scored one goal each for IFZA Habtoor Polo. The second chukker, opened with two back to back goals from Bayugar and two from Tommy Beresford, as the teams tied through the end of the second, with 4 goals to all. The next two chukkers were a quick exchange of goals, but UAE wrestled their way through and took the lead with one goal at the end of the penultimate chukker. With seven minutes remaining in the match, UAE Polo had their work cut out for them, as Lucas Monteverde Jr. and Tommy Beresford managed to create a three-goal cushion in the middle of the chukker. Bayugar managed to score a goal for IFZA Habtoor Polo, but in the end, it was Lucas Monteverde Jr. who scored the decisive goal, securing the ultimate win for UAE Polo as the two-time champions of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023.

25 February 2023: In the opening match of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023 quarter finals, both Ghantoot Polo and Bangash Dodson & Horrell Polo teams displayed a defensive play, with one lead for Bangash Dodson & Horrell Polo.

Tomas F. Llorente Jr. for the Bangash Dodson & Horrell Polo team scored the first goal of the game, and by the third chukker he closed it with a 1-goal lead for the team, bringing the score 5 goals to 4. Ghantoot Polo accelerated their performance by scoring three goals, resulting in a tied score of 7 goals each by the end of the penultimate chukker. Marcos Araya from Ghantoot Polo and Federico Von Potobsky from Bangash Dodson & Horrell Polo each scored a goal, ending the 5th chukker with 8 goals to all. For the second time in the tournament we witnessed a golden goal, and this time it was Haider Bangash, the Patron of the Bangash team, who clinched the winning goal. The team‘s impressive victory secured their place in the Semifinals.

The much-anticipated match between Dubai Wolves by CAFU and AM Polo team began with a promising start, as Teodora Lacau scored the opening goal. The Wolves maintained their lead until the second chukker, and in the third, the team‘s Patron, Habtoor Al Habtoor, scored a goal to extend their lead. However, Benjamin Urquiza and Benjamin Strada from AM Polo responded with a goal each, resulting in a tied score of 5 goals by the end of the third. During the penultimate chukker, AM Polo‘s Cesar Crespo and Benjamin Urquiza scored two consecutive goals, turning the tables in their team‘s favor. In the final stretch, Habtoor Al Habtoor of Dubai Wolves by CAFU managed to score, bringing the score to double digits, but ultimately it was Cesar Crespo who sealed the victory for AM Polo with a final score of 11-10.

22 February 2023: The 6th and final day of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023 Qualifiers featured 2 matches: Ghantoot Polo against Clinova Noa Capital Polo, and UAE Polo against Dubai Wolves by CAFU.

Marcos Araya of Ghantoot Polo kicked off the afternoon match against Clinova Noa Capital Polo with a 30-yard penalty goal. The game continued to be one-sided in favor of UAE Polo, with the second chukker ending at 5-2. The pace of the match picked up in the third chukker, with Marcos and Pablo Llorente Jr. scoring three goals each to bring the scoreboard to 9-3 in favor of Ghantoot Polo. In the penultimate chukker, Ghantoot Polo extended their lead with two goals by Segundo Amadori and one each by Pablo and Marcos, taking their score to double digits with 13-5. The Patrons of both the teams, Raja Karim from Clinova and Nasser Al Shamsi of Ghantoot Polo scored a goal, with Tommy Iriarte carving a last minute goal for the Clinova. However, despite their efforts, it was Ghantoot Polo who emerged as the clear winner with a final score of 15-9.

Martin Podesta opened the match with a brilliantly executed shot, but not long after, Carlos Ulloa equalized the score, resulting in a tied score of 1–1 at the end of the first chukker. The first half of the match was a closely contested affair as both teams were evenly matched, resulting in tied scores of 3–3 in the second chukker and 5–5 by the end of the third. A brilliant passage of play was displayed by both the teams by the second half, but it was white shirted players of the UAE Polo team who managed to gain the advantage, as Lucas Monteverde Jr. and Tommy Beresford led their team with a 2-goal lead in the penultimate chukker. In the final stretch of the game, Jacinto Crotto and Teodora Lacau each scored a goal in the last few minutes, but it was not enough as Beresford and Monteverde of the UAE Polo team sealed their victory over the Wolves with a final score of 9 goals to 7.

Dubai Wolves by CAFU and UAE Polo delivered an exceptional performances on the fourth day of the IFZA Gold Cup 2023, resulting in their deserved victories

19 February 2023: The fourth day of the IFZA Gold Cup was action-packed with two matches between Clinova Noa Capital Polo and Dubai Wolves by CAFU, followed by UAE Polo and Ghantoot Polo teams.

A critical match, as both teams – Dubai Wolves by CAFU and Capital Noa Capial Polo, needed to earn their first win in the tournament. Carlos Ulloa scored the first opening goal for Dubai Wolves by CAFU, followed by two more goals by Teodora Lacau and Ulloa. Dubai Wolves by CAFU dominated the game until the second chukker, maintaining a 5-0 lead over Clinova Noa Capital Polo. Although the opposing team scored one goal each in the third and fourth chukker, the Wolves kept their lead with four goals, resulting in a final score of 6-2. Each team carrying a victory under its belt, UAE Polo and Ghantoot Polo delivered an exciting game for the spectators of Al Habtoor Polo Club. Marcos Araya opened the scoring with a 40-yard penalty shot, and Segundo Amadori doubled Ghantoot Polo‘s lead to make it a two-goal advantage over UAE Polo. Tommy Beresford narrowed the score gap with three goals, and Lucas Monteverde Jr. scored a goal in the last minute of the second chukker. Tommy Beresford, with three penalty shots of 30, 40, and 60 yards, brought his team to a double-digit score, ending the third chukker with a 10-2 lead. UAE Polo managed to maintain the lead in the penultimate chukker as well with a 12 – 4 score, and by the end of the final stretch, UAE Polo marched its way through to ensure another win of the tournament.

UAE Polo Team Takes Home The IFZA Silver Cup 2023 Title

04 February 2023, Dubai, UAE: The last match of the IFZA Silver Cup 2023 took place on the grounds of Al Habtoor Polo Club with the clash of two strong contending teams of the tournament.

The subsidiary final of the IFZA Silver Cup was a smashing match between the teams of IFZA Habtoor Polo and Dubai Wolves by CAFU.

The match kicked off with the opening goal from Juan Jauretche, but the Dubai Wolves by CAFU caught up quickly and tied up the match at 1, as the both the teams displayed great skill in playing the defense. During the 2ndchukker, both the teams showed great expertise but it was IFZA Habtoor Polo who kept possession of the ball and the 2nd chukker finished with IFZA Habtoor Polo leading with at 3 to 2 score. It was at the start of the 3rd chukker, the team patron of the Dubai Wolves by CAFU came through and got a beautiful shot tying the match at 3 goals. The IFZA Habtoor Polo didn’t fall short, and Bautista Bayugar took the lead for the team. Not long after Carlos Ulloa levelled the game with only 20 seconds left on the clock. Towards the last chukker, it was Bayugar who came through and took his team towards winning the Subsidiary Match.

At the final match, AM Polo took the lead and kept it until the end of the 2ndchukker, with the score 5 – 3. During the 3rd chukker, Lucas Monteverde Jr. scored the first goal for UAE Polo team. Benamin Urquiza and Isidro Strada finished the 3rd chukker with great sportsmanship shown by both the teams. At the 4th chukker, UAE Polo made a comeback with 4 back to back goals for their team and found themselves with an advantage towards the end with 8 – 7 score. It all boiled down to the final chukker where we saw both the teams score one goal each. With a 30-yard penalty, AM Polo levelled up the game, as both the teams had their eyes at the Silver Cup. With only 28 seconds left of the final match, UAE Polo team scored another goal which AM Polo was unable to defend, and in the end it was UAE Polo team that won the IFZA Silver Cup 2023 trophy.

Line Up Is Set for IFZA Silver Cup 2023 Final

02 February 2023, Dubai, UAE: The last of the qualifying games took place on the grounds of Al Habtoor Polo Club with a clash of sticks among four formidable teams.

UAE Polo took the lead with Faisal Yabroudi scoring 2 goals by the end of the first chukker. During the second chukker, the UAE Polo team carved further a 2 goal lead, having 5 goals to 1. The Bangash Dodson & Horrell team delivered two back to back swift and smooth goals by Ignacio Negri but UAE Polo kept a 2 goal lead by halftime. The game levelled during the penultimate chukker with both teams having 6 goals each as each player demonstrated a skilled play. The last chukker saw Haider Bangash scoring for the team, but not long after the UAE Polo players took quick strides and finished the game with 10 to 7 score, which earned the UAE Polo team its well-deserved spot at the IFZA Silver Cup 2023 final.

The Dubai Wolves by Cafu took the advantage in the first chukker as Carlos Ulloa opened the afternoon match with 3 consecutive goals. The next chukker didn’t see much of the Dubai Wolves by Cafu as Bautista Bayugar scored two goals followed by one from Juan Jauretche which levelled the game. Both the teams picked up the pace in the succeeding chukkers, but it was IFZA Habtoor Polo team leading the game with, 8 to 7 score. It was a fight for the win at the last chukker, with the Wolves giving it their all. However, the back to back goals by the patron of IFZA Habtoor Polo – Mohammed Al Habtoor – ensured the team’s victory at 11 to 9 score.

Abu Dhabi Polo and UAE Polo Teams Notched Up Victories at the Gold Cup 2022

The clash of sticks continued on the fourth day of the Dubai Open 2022 at Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.

Alfredo Cappella marked the scoreboard first with a penalty shot for the Dubai Wolves by CAFU but UAE Polo had the lead at the end of the first chukker. The team widened the gap in scores during the second from the penalty shots by Tommy Beresford. The Wolves scrambled for goals during the third chukker with Charles Cooney closing it at 5 goals for the team. UAE Polo had full possession of the game as they marked the penultimate chukker with an astounding 8-goal lead. The Dubai Wolves by CAFU made attempts for redemption at the fifth chukker and managed to score in 4 back to back goals, however the significant lead was enough to earn UAE Polo team their second win in the tournament.

The next match was between Abu Dhabi Polo and AM Polo teams. Segundo Amadori scored first for Abu Dhabi Polo during the second chukker but the Urquiza‘s from AM Polo nicked the lead by the end of it. Jeronimo del Carril‘s consecutive goals during the third and Santiago Cernadas‘ evasive shots at the fourth chukker shifted the lead to Abu Dhabi Polo. AM Polo rushed to steal the win as the opponent had a 2 goal advantage mid of the final chukker. Pablo Urquiza squeezed in 1 goal but AM Polo was beaten by the buzzer and Abu Dhabi Polo won the game at 6 goals to 5.

The next round of qualifying matches will be on the 22nd of February between Habtoor Polo and Zedan at 14:00 followed by Bangash Dodson & Horrell against Ghantoot Polo at 16:00.
