Empire Polo Club

The Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley, Ellerstina Polo Club, Polo Club de Chantilly and Evviva Polo St. Moritz were the first teams to reach the Quarterfinals of the 2022 POLO RIDER CUP in Group A & B.

Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley bet Polo Park Zürich by 10-6 goals in the first match of the game.

Empire Polo Club had a strong start in the game, and at the end of the second chukker the American team was leading 0-5 goals, with a fantastic goal from Guillermo Li in the last seconds of the Chukker.

In the third chukker, Martin Joaquin scored the first goal for Polo Park Zurich, but two more goals from Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley increased the gap by 1-7 goals at halftime.

Miguel Amieva scored the only two goals of the fourth chukker and shortened the gap, but the game ended with 4 goals difference in favour of Empire, 6-10 goals.

The tournament‘s closest and more intensive match was between Coronel Suárez  Polo Club and Ellerstina Polo Club, where Ellerstina team took the victory by only one goal, 8-9 goals and secured a place in the quarterfinals.

Coronel Suárez  Polo Club was leading the match at the end of the third game, 4-2 goals but an outstanding performance from Ellerstina in the fourth chukker scoring 3 goals, placed the team in front by 4-5 goals.

In the fifth chukker Salvador Jauretche scored an amazing goal from the side,  increasing the gap again for Ellerstina Polo Club, but 2 goals from Edouard Pan and Ignacio Badiola returned again the lead to Coronel Suárez  by 7-6 goals

Badiola scored at the start of the sixth chukker but another great comeback from Ellerstina with goals from Jauretche and Chavane gave the victory to Ellerstina by 8-9 goals.

The third match of the day saw a dramatic end victory of Polo Club de Chantilly against Berlin Polo with a final result of 5 ½ to 5 goals.

Polo Club de Chantilly was in front of the score during all the chukkers with a slight gap difference. In the fifth chukker Kutlay Yaprak kutlay from the field narrowed the gap from 4 ½  to 4.

Valentin Novillo Astrada scored a penalty fault that put Berlin in front of the game for the first time in the sixth chukker, but Julien Reynes from the field striked the victory goal, 

The closing game of the day between Las Brisas Polo Club of Chicago and Evviva Polo St. Moritz ended with the victory of the Evviva Polo St. Moritz and the final score was 7-15 goals.

In the first half of the game, the match was balanced, with a result of 6 – 8 goals but after the fourth chukker, an unstoppable Evviva Polo St. Moritz with Ignacio Kennedy and Martin Aguerre led the Swiss team to the quarterfinals.

The Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley (USA) returns to the POLO RIDER CUP, joining Las Brisas Polo Club of Chicago (USA), Hamburger Polo Club (GER), Evviva Polo St. Moritz (SUI), Deauville International Polo Club (FRA), Polo Club of Chantilly (FRA) and Polo Park Zürich (SUI) in the field of the 2022 POLO RIDER CUP, which will be held from 8 to 18 June 2022 at the Polo Club of Chantilly, north of Paris (France).  

The Empire Polo Club team will comprise the following players:

The legendary Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley (USA), future host of the FIP World Polo Championship, will be the second American polo club to enter the 2021 POLO RIDER CUP, joining the Chantilly Polo Club (FRA), Hamburger Polo Club (GER), Dos Lunas Polo Club (SPA), Moscow Polo Club (RUS), Evviva Polo St. Moritz (SUI), Düsseldorf Polo Club (GER) and Las Brisas Polo Club of Chicago (USA). The POLO RIDER CUP will be held from 10 to 20 June 2021 at the Polo Club of Chantilly, north of Paris.

About EMPIRE POLO CLUB (https://empirepolo.com) The Empire Polo Club is a 500-acre (202 ha) polo club in Indio, California in the Coachella Valley of Riverside County, near Palm Springs.
