Max Charlton

SAPA Docklands Polo with Alec Banner-Eve, Ed Banner-Eve and Harold Hodges (Most Valubable Player) are the winners of the breathtaking and thrilling final of the 23rd Arena Gold Cup at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club with 18:15. In a very fast and even game SAPA Docklands Polo faced a strong Regal Warriors Team with Raph Singh, Grant Collett and the outstanding 9-goaler Max Charlton. Everybody was already expecting a fifth chukka as the teams came out at a 15:15 score only ten seconds before the final bell. A 2-points goal and another 1-point goal helped SAPA Docklands Polo in the literally last moment to emerge victorious. Commentator Jan-Erik Franck: „The level of polo as it was expected was really high. We had eight very strong teams here at the Arena Gold Cup 2018. In the final we saw competitive polo, Charlton put on the heat. On the end of the fourth chukka SAPA Docklands turned it all again and literally nicked it in the final moment.“

The Ladies Arena British Polo, which was played before, was won by Team Glitterati Polo with Kirsty Craig (Most Valubable Player), Rosie Ross and Kirstie Otamendi. They took and defended the led against Tally Ho Farm with Charlotte Christodoulou, Nell Jacob and Heloise Wilson-Smith with a final score of 16:12.

In the Arena Silver Cup the audience saw a competitive Team Tchogan (winner of the Arena Gold Cup in 2007, 2009 and 2011) featuring Heiko Voelker, Eden Ormerod and 7-Goaler Sebastian Dawnay. From the very beginning they left no doubt who controlled the Silver Cup final and defeated Team Sifani with Hilali Noordeen, Richard Blake-Thomas and Ryan Pemble by 20:12.
