By ‘The Polo Speaker’, Jan Zavazal, Fotos: POLO+10
2025 saw the 132nd edition of the Abierto Argentino de Polo, the biggest polo tournament in Argentina and the world. This week, the global polo community gathered in one place: Palermo, Buenos Aires. POLO+10 was there and met many personalities from the world of polo, who were delighted to spend valuable time with us.
POLO+10 had a fantastic interview with Hazel Jackson (England), the 10-goal player and 2024 Palermo champion, who spoke about this year’s Argentine Women’s Open and her feelings and frustrations about not winning the trophy. We wish her every success for 2026.
Among our friends from Germany was Lukas Sdrenka, the 2025 Low Goal Champion and DPV Player of the Year, along with his fiancée Alessa Eckhard, who organised the German Arena Polo Championship from 2022 to 2024 together with her mother Hildegard. We also met Brenda de Boer (Netherlands), president of the Midden-Nederland Polo Club.
Also present was Stephen Vassallo from the Island Polo Club in Malta, who greeted everyone with his characteristic smile. Maciej Olbrych (Poland), Secretary General of the International Chovken Federation, and his sister Marianna Olbrych spoke to POLO+10 about their mission to bring Chovken to Argentina in December 2026.
The La Tarde Polo Club, the very active polo hotel in the Buenos Aires region, came to Palermo with its owner Juan Martin Sarli and guests.
Last but not least, we send our best wishes to Quatro Tolson from Texas, who is organising the Crypto Polo Cup 2026 and inviting participants. The tournament will take place again in April 2026 at the Polo and Equestrian Club in Dubai.
