Mr Kisser, “Mission. Frameless.” – what is behind your new claim?
Our new claim sums up what burckhardt’s glide stands for: maximum reduction, absolute clarity, and an uncompromising commitment to design freedom. Our frameless sliding window systems not only blend harmoniously into the architecture – they are part of a holistic design concept: minimalism meets precision.
Burckhardt’s glide is often used in villa architecture. What makes the system so interesting for this type of building?
Modern villas demand light-flooded rooms, clear lines, and an open feeling of space, which is exactly what burckhardt’s glide creates. Our systems almost completely dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside. The floor-to-ceiling elements, the barrier-free transitions, and the filigree profiles give the architecture a new lightness. It’s not about a window – it’s about the feeling of space and openness.
Keyword free space – what does that mean in concrete terms for your customers?
Freedom begins where boundaries disappear. Our frameless windows not only open up the view, they also give space back: visually, architecturally, and atmospherically. The garden becomes part of the living room, the terrace merges with the interior. This creates a new dimension of living comfort.
In addition to design, comfort also plays a major role. What do you offer in this area?
Our customers should not only live beautifully, but also smartly. That’s why we offer a wide range of automation options: our sliding elements can be equipped with an almost invisible electric drive on request, which can be integrated into modern smart home systems. The large glass fronts open effortlessly via app, tablet, or wall control – it couldn’t be more elegant.
And what about individualisation? Burckhardt’s glide is not an off-the-shelf product.
We realise special solutions, post-free corners, 1- to 4-rail systems, and various threshold designs – barrier-free, of course. There are also no limits to creativity when it comes to colour design: whether anodised or powder-coated – the profiles can be perfectly matched to any architectural concept.
One last look into the future: what are you currently working on?
We are continuously developing our systems – in terms of design, function, and even more integration. Architecture is increasingly being conceived as a hybrid: interior design, building technology, and lighting design are merging. We supply the right interfaces for this – always with a clear mission: frameless.
