CARBONDALE, CO, August 30, 2021— Tonkawa defeated NetJets by 9-8 in overtime to take the Aspen leg of the World Polo League Triple Crown of Polo.

Yesterday NetJets (Alejandra Foster, Gussie Busch, Nic Roldan, and Nacho Figueres) met Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Marc Ganzi, Gonzalito Pieres, and Juan Bollini) in the final match of the Triple Crown of Polo.

Gonzalito Pieres gets ready to drive the ball down the field ahead of opponent Nacho Figueras.

Play was off to a blistering start as Nic Roldan took the ball from the throw-in and passed it to Gussie Busch, who put it through the posts only 13 seconds into the first chukker. Both teams demonstrated an appetite for risk, taking long shots early in the game. Busch scored again in the second period, but Gonzalito Pieres converted a Penalty 2 and 3 to end the chukker in a 2-2 tie. In the third period, he converted a Penalty 4 to take the score up to 3, but an answer from Nacho Figueras ended the half in a 3-3 tie.

The second half started with Tonkawa commanding the field in the fourth chukker. Pieres was on fire, making an impressive run to goal at 3:29 and another at 2:42, this time with Roldan glued to his hip. Tonkawa frustrated NetJets’ attempts to score, while Marc Ganzi made a spectacular lofted shot to add one more goal just before the horn. Tonkawa started the fifth chukker with an encouraging three goal lead at 6-3, but NetJets fought back hard. Tonkawa’s Ganzi converted a Penalty 2 thirty seconds into the chukker, but that was to be Tonkawa’s only goal. Roldan added a pair of goals for NetJets, including a spectacular lofted shot at 1:08, to narrow Tonkawa’s lead to two goals, ending the period 7-5.

In the final chukker, NetJets continued to outscore Tonkawa. At 3:50. Alejandra Foster took the ball downfield, handing it off to Busch for the goal. After another minute of back-and-forth play, Roldan took the ball to goal, drawing NetJets even with Tonkawa at 7 all. The last minute-and-a-half turned into a real nail-biter. Pieres roared past the crowd to score at 1:38, putting Tonkawa back in the lead, but with forty seconds left on the clock, Roldan scored the equalizer that send the match into overtime. It took less than 30 seconds to decide the outcome, with Pieres taking the ball toward the goal on a breakway and Juan Bollini finished the job to give Tonkawa the win at 9-8. Gonzalito Pieres was named MVP. Cruella deVille, ridden by Pieres and owned by Santa Rita Polo Farm, took Best Playing Pony honors.

Most Valuable Player Gonzalito Pieres.

In the subsidiary Just for the Love of It Cup, Quite on Z (Alicia Siedler, Vinny Sangaline, Felipe Vercillino, and Alejandro Novillo Astrada) met Mountain Chevrolet (Michael Payne, Tomas Pieres, Pablo Spinacci, and Horacio Heguy). Alicia Siedler, playing her first-ever match at Aspen Valley, started out on the right foot, scoring the only goal of the chukker. It took almost four minutes of play for Michael Payne put the first goal on the board for Montain Chevrolet, while Vinny Sangaline answered to end the chukker 2-1 for Quite on Z. Horacio Heguy tied the match at 2-2, but Felipe Versillino put Quite on Z back in the lead, ending the chukker 3-2.

Quite on Z got off to a fast start in the second half. Siedler and Sangaline scored consecutive goals, while Mountain Chevrolet couldn’t make it onto the board. The tables were turned in the fifth chukker, with Mountain Chevrolet keeping Z off the board. However, the team continued to play a strong defense and Mountain Chevrolet failed to score from the field, athough Michael Payne converted a Penalty 3 to end the period with Quite on Z leading by 5-3. Both teams were running to no result until Alejandro Novillo Astrada made a run downfield to take the ball to goal at 1:52. Despite a final Penalty 2 conversion by Payne, Quite on Z carried the day with a final score of 6-4. Felipe Versillino was named MVP. Kangarito, a stunning 8-year-old chestnut, was named Best Playing Pony. He is owned by Alicia Siedler and was played by Versillino in the fifth chukker.

Just For The Love Of It winner‘s Quite on Z‘s Vinny Sangaline, Alicia Siedler, Felipe Versillino, and Alejandro Novillo Astrada with the unique trophy designed by world renowned artist Romero Britto.

In the Just for the Fun of It Cup, La Karina (Nacho Badiola, Brian Boyd, Nacho Novillo Astrada, and Stewart Armstrong) took on Rancho Los Amigos (Paul Foster, Sugar Erskine, Toro Ruiz, and Alex Gooding). It was a frustrating first chukker for both teams as neither made it onto the board. Both teams were evenly matched, scoring two goals each. Brian Boyd started the scoring with an answer from Alex Gooding. Paul Foster followed up with a goal, while Sugar Erskine was responsible for the equalizer to end the period 2-2. La Karina finally gained the advantage in the third chukker with a goal from Nacho Novillo Astrada, ending the half 3-2.

Novillo Astrada started the scoring in the second half, taking La Karina up to 5 before Foster found the uprights. A goal from Erskine ended the fourth chukker 5-3 for La Karina. Unfortunately for the team in green, that was to be their last goal of the day, as they were unable to score in either the fifth or sixth chukker. Rancho Los Amigos was also unable to score in the fifth chukker, but Toro Ruiz and Alex Gooding each found the goal in the final chukker to end the match in a 5-5 tie.

Mungo vs. Los Dragones… this was the unprecedented game of the 2021 Coupe d’Or Marta and Lucien Barrière final. Two well-balanced teams, no big handicaps, but players of the same level with two very efficient captains on the field, delivered a well-balanced game to the great delight of the public who had filled the venerable stands of the Deauville International Polo Club.

A beautiful polo battle from which Los Dragones emerged victorious at the end of a game that was settled in the final period under the watchful eye of an Olympic champion of show jumping, Frenchman Pierre Durand, whose legendary Jappeloup was no bigger than a polo pony!

The first four periods were particularly tense, punctuated by faults and falls, and none of the two finalists ever had a clear lead, one goal always followed by another: „This is often the case in finals. A final is a war, especially as we were up against a very good team, Mungo, who hadn’t lost a single one of their qualifying games except one“, recalls the young captain of Los Dragones, 19-year-old Frenchman Sam Sztarkman, who proved to be a particularly brilliant attack player throughout this Coupe d’Or Marta and Lucien Barrière. This was his third participation: „We lost in the final in 2018 but this time we finally won it, it‘s just incredible. We are a team of four friends, we know each other perfectly and there is a good vibe between us. That‘s why we won.”

The result was decided in the fifth period with, at last, some great field goals, including two spectacular backs from Martin Joaquin (MVP of the final) and Nicolas Maderna (top scorer of the final with 4 goals): „We went out on the field more focused than ever, with a lot of drive and that worked in our favor.“ Sam Sztarkman, the best amateur player of this final, shed tears of joy as the bell rang the end of the game and proved that he certainly is one of the great hopes of French polo. It is with a surge of confidence that he will tackle another coveted title next weekend: the Open de France Engel & Völkers in Chantilly (3 to 19 September). „We will start the tournament gently, we first want to enjoy our victory in this Coupe d’Or, but of course we will do all we can to also show up strongly in the Open.“

Once again, this Coupe d’Or Marta and Lucien Barrière has lived up to its promise with six fine teams who have fought some great battles over the last three weeks. Six teams that will meet four new ones in Chantilly with a possible double for Los Dragones. It is in France that the international season of European high goal polo will be coming to an end. Deauville was the penultimate act of this apotheosis and a great joy for the fans of this sport.

SANTA BARBARA, CA. (August 22nd, 2021) –  The past Sunday, Pacific Coast Open narrowed the six teams down to just four to go through to the semi-finals to be held on Friday. Therefore, all the teams came out with their best horses, best strategies, and best focus to secure a spot, or keep their spot, to advance in the tournament.

At 11 AM, Klentner Ranch and BenSoleimani.com played each other. Klentner Ranch had a strong first chukker with five goals between Santiago Toccalino and Jesse Bray.

BenSoleimani.com fired back in the second with four goals of their own, all from Inaki Laprida. The first half ended at a close 8-6. However, Klentner Ranch turned it on in the second half to pull away in score, ultimately coming out on top, 17-11.

The first afternoon game at 2 PM matched up Antelope and Farmers and Merchants Bank. Antelope held the lead after two chukkers, but remarkable play from Luqitas Criado pulled FMB ahead to finish the half. Good defense and strategic play dominated the second half with few goals, almost all of them off of penalty shots. After a hard-fought match, FMB took the win with a two goal margin, 11-9.

Wrapping up the day at 4 PM, Santa Clara and Lucchese battled it out on the US Polo Assn Stadium field. Santa Clara came out strong in the first and second chukkers with six total goals, Lucchese made it up by winning the third chukker three goals to none for Santa Clara. This made the score all tied up 6-6 at half-time. Lucchese used the fourth and fifth chukkers to gain a lead of one goal. Santa Clara pulled out all the stops in the final chukker, with equally impressive back to back goals from Nico Escobar to tie the game up. But it proved to be not quite enough as Jeff Hall scored the winning goal, ending the game 11-10 to Lucchese.

At the end of the day, BenSoleimani.com, Klentner Ranch, Lucchese, and Farmers and Merchants Bank continued on in the Pacific Coast Open. Klentner Ranch will face Farmers and Merchant Bank on Friday in one of the semi-finals and Lucchese will take on BenSoleimani.con in the second semi-final. The next press release will report the Pacific Coast Open Finals.

Chantilly celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Ladies‘ Open

Eleven players at Argentinean Open level or winners of the Copa Camara, the best French players, ten teams, nine nations represented, a maharaja who is a high level sportsman because of his 2 goal handicap and more than thirty matches: the 2021 edition of the Open de France Engel & Völkers promises to be exciting once again. The Women’s Open will celebrate its tenth anniversary with six brilliant teams

With ten teams of 16 goals*, the Open de France Engel & Völkers is undoubtedly the most competitive of the international tournaments played in France and this in the largest club with its eight fields, the quality of which is unanimously appreciated by the best players in the world. This is one of the reasons why the ten team captains have once again entered eleven of these best players, big names who usually liven up the alta temporada, the Argentinean high season:

Camilo Castagnola (8 goal handicap*, Argentine Open), Tomas Beresford (7, Copa Camara 2020 finalist), Martin Aguerre (7, Argentine Open player and 2018 Copa Camara winner), Clemente and Juan-Gris Zavaleta (7, Argentine Open players and Copa Camara winners), Alejandro Muzzio, Bautista Bayugar and Tito Ruiz Guiñazu (8, 8 and 7, Argentine Open and Copa Camara), Facundo Llorente(7, Copa Camara), Jero Del Carril (7, Copa Camara) and finally, the return to Chantilly of Rufino Bensadon who last played in Apremont at the age of 16 as a 4 goaler and who returns this year at age 19 as a 7-goaler and, among other things, a Copa Camara winner (2019).

This year, the Open de France Engel & Völkers is more international than ever with nine nations represented in the ten teams: United Kingdom, Argentina, Chile, Spain, United States, France, Russia, Switzerland and India with the Maharadja of Jaipur, Prince Pacho Padmanabh Singh who will play in the Sainte-Mesme team.

France’s polo elite will be well represented, with players from the national team spread across four lineups: Pierre Henri N‘Goumou (6, Mungo), Robert Strom (5, Sainte-Mesme), Patrick Paillol (5, Kazak) and Brieuc Rigaux (6, Brittany Polo).

Women’s Open: tenth anniversary and Argentinean stars

From 14 September, the women‘s top level will be on show to compete in the tenth anniversary edition. Six well-balanced teams will battle for the 2021 title. They are built either around a strong pillar or with four players of equal level. Among the pillars, a loyal Chantilly player and title holder of the Argentine Open, Lia Salvo, handicap 9, who will cleverly lead the Maison Décalé team. Playing against La Dolfina in the 2020 final of the Abierto Feminino, Lia had faced Fatima Balzano (6); she will meet her again in Chantilly with the German team Cosmo Polo Los Floreales. Also handicap 6, British player Izzie Mc Gregor will lead the French-American team DS Automobiles DS Store Saint-Maximin. As in the Engel & Völkers Open, many nations will be represented in this Women‘s Open, five to be exact: Argentina, England, Germany, Switzerland and France with eleven players from the Polo Club de Chantilly. Among them, the three Venot sisters, holders of the title that they will defend this year under the Swiss colors of Polo Park Zürich alongside the President of the Swiss Polo Federation, Morgane van Overbroek. A team to follow and to beat! The oldest of the Venot sisters, Elena, has joined the circle of the best players in the world; handicap 6 as well, she will play the next Argentinean Open for La Ensenada.

See you in Chantilly from 4 September!

After last year’s flamboyant twentieth anniversary edition and with this year’s tenth anniversary of the Women’s Open, the 2021 edition promises to be just as intense to experience. Whether in the peaceful atmosphere of the weekday matches, often at dusk, or in the feverishness of the weekend games and in particular the final on 19 September, where a village of stalls, food-trucks and entertainment welcomes visitors. Not forgetting the polo Fridays, where the last game of the day can be watched from the Orangerie, with a glass of champagne or Malbec in hand, while waiting for the asado (Argentinean barbecue) and the equestrian event with a few surprises on the program, such as the Compagnie équestre des Grandes Écuries de Chantilly or Mario Lurashi. Three weeks of sports and festivities.

*A team of 16 goals is made of four players whose goal handicaps add up to 16. The goal handicap corresponds to the level of the polo player (it varies between -2 and +10). The handicap evolves according to the player‘s performance in games and the progress made during the year. The highest handicap in France is 6 and in Europe 7 (England). The handicap 10 is currently held by 9 Argentinians and one Uruguayan.

CARBONDALE, CO, August 23, 2021— On Sunday, Casablanca defeated Tonkawa in the final of the Rocky Mountain Open by a score of 10-6.

It was a special day at Aspen Valley Sunday, as the club hosted the annual Summer Polo Benefit for the Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation. In addition to four fast and exciting matches, guests enjoyed an elegant catered luncheon and a live auction between matches. One of the auction’s highlights was a private tour of Nacho Figueras’s architecturally acclaimed stable in Argentina, which went for $40,000. Following the day’s four matches, guests were treated to a special equestrian performance by John Payne, the One-Armed Bandit.

In the first match of the day, Casablanca (Marc Ganzi, Grant Ganzi, Gonzalito Pieres, and Toro Ruiz) met Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Jimmy Seward, Nic Roldan, and Nacho Novillo Astrada) in the final match of the Rocky Mountain Open.

Gonzalito Pieres put the first goal of the day on the board for Casablanca at 4:38. After another two minutes of play, Pieres swooped in for a steal and took the ball downfield to score again. The chukker ended at 2-0 for Casablanca, establishing a lead that the team held for the entire match. Jimmy Seward fought off Pieres to take the ball through at 2:45 and put the first goal for Tonkawa on the board. A minute later, Pieres intercepted a pass from Nic Roldan and left the finish for Toro Ruiz, ending the second period with Casablanca in the lead by 3-1. Seward scored the first goal in the third chukker, but Tonkawa failed to gain much ground as Pieres put another pair of goals on the board, and the half ended with Casablanca in the lead by 5-2.

The second half started with Toro Ruiz picking up a loose ball and running to goal. After two minutes of back-and forth-play, Roldan was carrying the ball only to be hooked by Grant Ganzi. Recovering immediately, Roldan took the ball back to score at 2:37. At the beginning of the pentultimate period, Casablanca was still in the lead with a score of 6- 3. Roldan quickly added a pair of goals to put Tonkawa within one goal, but Ruiz answered Roldan, taking Casablanca to a 7-5 lead. A Penalty 3 shot from Marc took the score to 8-5, but another goal from Roldan ended the chukker with a score of 8-6.

MVP Gonzalito Pieres.

In the final period, Pieres scored his third pair of consecutive goals, taking his team up to 10. Tonkawa couldn’t get by the Casablanca defense, and Casablanca took the title with a final score of 10-6. Gonzalito Pieres was named MVP, while Ladybug, a 7-year-old dark bay mare, took Best Playing Pony honors. Owned and played by Jimmy Seward, she was bred by Stewart Armstrong.

In the second final of the day, White Claw (Waqqas al-Siddiq, Vinny Sangaline, Gonzalito Pieres, and Nacho Badiola) and Dundas (Sarah Siegel Magness, Gussie Busch, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, and Juan Bollini) vied for the title in the Carbondale Classic.

Gussie Busch started the scoring by successfully converting a Penalty 2. However, White Claw didn’t make it onto the board in the first chuker, which ended 1-0. Playing his second match of the day, Gonzalito Pieres put his team on the board with the first goal of the second chukker. Gussie Busch and Sarah Siegel Magness took Dundas up to three goals, while Pieres put the ball through the posts to end the chukker 3-2 with Dundas in the lead. Just over a minute into the third period, Pieres deflected a shot on goal, but the ball bounced off the post, giving Vinny Sangaline the opportunity to tap the ball through and tie things up at 3-all. Pieres converted a Penalty 2, putting White Claw ahead for the first time in the game. Busch scored an equalizer and the half ended with the teams tied at 4-all.

White Claw commanded the field in the fourth chukker, keeping Dundas off the goal, while Pieres converted a Penalty 4 to put his team back in the lead. The White Claw defense held in the pentultimate chukker while Dundas was still unable to score. Nacho Badiola contributed two more goals to keep White Claw firmly in the lead at 7-4. Dundas fought back hard in the final period. Busch put the first goal in, and Badiola answered by scoring to take his team up to 10. Sarah Magness converted a Penalty 2, which was followed by a final goal from Gussie Busch. However, Dundas was unable to overcome White Claw’s lead, and the game ended with an 8-7 victory for White Claw. For the second time in one day, Gonzalito Pieres took the MVP title. Cruella deVille, played by Pieres and owned and bred by Santa Rita Polo Farm, was named Best Playing Pony.

Alejandro Novillo Astrada and Nacho Badiola.

In the subsidiary match of the Rocky Mountain Open, McClure River Ranch (Sugar Erskine, Tomas Pieres, Horacio Heguy, and Stewart Armstrong) met La Karina (Brian Boyd, Pablo Spinacci, Nacho Figueras, and Alejandro Novillo Astrada). Sugar Erskine started the action with a pair of goals for McClure River, while Nacho Figueras answered to end the first chukker with McClure River in the lead by 2-1. In the second period, Alejandro Novillo Astrada began the scoring, and Pablo Spinacci put two more balls through the posts to take his team up to four. McClure River Ranch’s Tomas Pieres knocked in the final goal of the period, which ended 4-3 with La Karina in the lead. Neither team was able to score in the third period, and the half ended 4-3.

As the second half began, Pieres put a goal on the board for McClure River, but a Penalty 2 conversion and a goal from Figueras saw 6 on the board for La Karina. Pieres put another ball through the posts to end the period 5-6 with La Karina in the lead. In the pentultimate chukker, Figueras took his team up to 7. Horacio Heguy found the uprights for McClure River and the period ended 7-6 with La Karina in the lead. In the final period Novillo Astrada converted a Penalty 2 while Sugar Erskine scored another goal and Pieres successfully shot from the penalty to end the period in an 8-8 tie and send the match into overtime. Nacho Novillo Astrada converted a penalty to win the match for La Karina at 9-8. Tomas Pieres was the high scoring player with four goals.

A penalty conversion by Michael Payne, followed by a goal from Govinda Quish for NetJets, saw the second period end with a score of 2-2. In the final chukker of the first half, Alejandra Foster put another goal on the board, while NetJets managed to contain Los Amigos and end the half leading by 3-2.

The tables were turned in the fifth period, with NetJets failing to score while Michael Payne twice found the posts for Los Amigos and tied the match at 4-4 going into the final chukker. NetJets seemed to run out of steam, failing to get past the Los Amigos defense yet again. Payne scored the final goal to see Rancho Los Amigos prevail by 5-4. Michael Payne was the high scoring player of the match, scoring four of his team’s five goals.

The Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo will start the new model year in September with extensive changes.

Thanks to technological developments, the day-to-day range of the electric sports cars will be improved. Further significant upgrades include the deep integration of Android Auto in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, as well as the availability of Remote Park Assist for the first time on the Taycan. With this new optional assistance system, the process of parking the car can be controlled via a smartphone, without the driver needing to be at the wheel. With the new Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus options, unusual and personal colour choices can now be realised. For example, the Taycan can now be painted in the ‘90s classic Rubystone Red, or in bright Acid Green. “The latest generation of Taycan impresses with seamless smartphone connectivity, which now includes Android Auto,” says Kevin Giek, the Vice President Model Line Taycan since April. “Our all-electric Taycan range is growing and thriving. The new Cross Turismo, which was added to the line-up in the spring, is proving extremely popular with our customers, as has been shown by the excellent number of orders being taken for it.”

Technological enhancements: more range in practice

The new Taycan model year will not be homologated separately, so there will not be any new WLTP range values. However, the real-world range of the latest versions will be greater in day-to-day use. Extensive technological developments have been implemented to achieve this increase. In Normal and Range modes, the front electric motor is almost completely decoupled and de-energised in the partial load range in the all-wheel drive models. Furthermore, no drive is transmitted to either axle when the car is coasting or at a standstill. This electric freewheel function reduces drag losses. The motors are switched on again within milliseconds only when the driver requests more power or changes the driving mode. The thermal management and charging functions have also been further improved. With the Turbo Charging Planner, the high-voltage battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature than before. This means that fast charging is possible earlier and at a higher charge level. In addition, the waste heat from the electrical components is used to an even greater extent for battery temperature regulation.

Remote Park Assist: remote control parking

With the new Remote Park Assist option, it is possible to remotely control parking manoeuvres via a smartphone when driving into and out of parking spaces1) without the driver needing to be behind the wheel. Automatic control is possible for both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and garages. The system automatically detects parking spaces and measures them using the vehicle’s ultrasonic sensors and camera systems. If there is enough space, the driver can start the parking process via the Porsche Connect app and then get out of the vehicle. The driver continuously monitors the parking process by pressing and holding a button on the smartphone’s app interface. The Remote Park Assist function independently takes over steering and control of the forward and reverse movements of the vehicle. If the button is released, the Taycan immediately stops the parking manoeuvre.

Android Auto: now also integrated into the infotainment system

The sixth generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) has been fitted to the Taycan since its introduction. The all-electric sports car has always been a connectivity pioneer, starting with the seamless integrations of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. Android Auto is now also integrated in the PCM, along with Apple CarPlay support for iPhone. This means that smartphones with the Google Android operating system are now also supported. Selected phone functions and smartphone apps that do not adversely affect driving safety can therefore now be operated via PCM 6.0 or the Google Assistant voice commands. The Voice Pilot voice assistant now also understands instructions in everyday language even better. The satellite navigation system calculates more quickly, primarily uses the online search for points of interest (POI) and also displays its information more clearly. The layout and operating system have also been revamped slightly: there are now five menu options instead of three on the left side of the central display and the icons can be arranged individually.

The cult colours make a comeback: even more individual paintwork

In the ‘90s, Porsche introduced a number of highly colourful paint finishes to its range. These quickly achieved cult status among fans of the brand and are especially popular today on classics like the 964-generation cars. These eye-catching colours are now making a comeback. As part of the continually developing personalisation strategy of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the Taycan is now also available with Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus in addition to 17 standard paint colours. The first option allows painting with 65 additional colours, at present. This includes the Moonlight Blue Metallic, Acid Green, Rubystar Red, Riviera Blue and Viola Metallic colours that are so characteristic of the brand. Paint to Sample Plus gives customers almost complete freedom in their choice of colour, even permitting them to match their Taycan to their favourite accessory.

Porsche Charging Service with almost 200,000 charging points

The Porsche Charging Service offers access to the worldwide charging points of numerous networks, with central billing being handled by Porsche. There are currently almost 200,000 charging points in more than 20 countries across Europe, including nearly 6,500 50 kW-plus DC charging stations. A further highlight is Porsche Destination Charging. With this exclusive service, customers can charge their electric or plug-in hybrid Porsche models free of charge at particularly popular destinations. It already offers more than 2,000 AC charging points in over 50 countries at locations such as selected hotels, restaurants, airports, shopping malls, sports clubs and marinas – and further expansion of the network is in full swing. All charging operations with the Porsche Charging Service are carbon-neutral.

Bestselling Taycan

The Taycan has been particularly successful during recent months. With approximately 20,000 vehicles delivered in the first half of 2021 alone, the year-to-date number is only slightly below the total for 2020 as a whole. Sales of the latest member of the model range are therefore on a par with those of the sports car icon, the 911.

Change in management for the Taycan

Kevin Giek has been Vice President Model Line Taycan since April 2021. He replaced Stefan Weckbach, who is now responsible for the Cayenne product line. Giek has worked for Porsche AG for more than 18 years and was most recently Head of Procurement for new vehicle projects. In this role, the 42-year-old has been involved with the Taycan project right from the start as part of a 190-strong team. Tasks that his team undertook included the procurement of the equipment for the new factory installations in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. He is continuing a family tradition in his choice of employer. As a young boy, Giek was allowed to accompany his father at the weekend during inspection tours of the test rigs for the Porsche aircraft engines, for which his father was responsible. Giek studied at the University of Design, Engineering and Economics in Pforzheim and is a graduate industrial engineer.
