Global, Sport-Inspired Lifestyle Brand Reaches Five Years of Collegiate Partnership Program.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 7, 2023) — U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), will outfit competitive collegiate polo players for the fifth consecutive year through its nationwide Collegiate Partnership Program (CPP) for the 2023 Collegiate Polo Season.

A total of 29 colleges have signed up to participate in U.S. Polo Assn.’s annual CPP, representing 47 collegiate teams with 28 women’s and 19 men’s teams. Enrollment for the sports enrichment program is open to all colleges and universities with a USPA-sanctioned polo team and lasts for one academic year. Teams in the program range from East Coast to West Coast and include small private and large public institutions, as well as Ivy Leagues and Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCU). New schools joining the program this year include Grossmont College and Middle Tennessee State University.

Through this program, U.S. Polo Assn. will provide student-athletes with complete game attire that includes customized performance team jerseys, white performance pants, polo shirts, caps and equipment gear bags. A monetary donation is also given to the teams, which can be used for travel or other expenses.

For the first time, a USPA Pro item will be donated to all student-athletes. The USPA Pro performance products are designed in collaboration with professional polo players. There will also be a “Collegiate Social Media Contest” where teams will have the opportunity to win additional prizes for their creative social media posts.

Sanctioned by the USPA, collegiate polo teams compete in the Fall and Spring with the official season beginning September 2022 and running through April 2023. This season will conclude with the National Intercollegiate Championship (NIC) hosted at the Virginia Polo Center in Charlottesville, VA, from April 10-15, 2023. The Men’s and Women’s NIC Finals will air on ESPNU on April 15, 2023. Check your local listings for game times.

“U.S. Polo Assn. is proud to continue our support of student-athletes across the country through our Collegiate Partnership Program because these athletes are the future of the game,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, which manages the global, multi-billion-dollar U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “As the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), we want to continue growing and building our authentic connection to the sport of polo, and the Collegiate Partnership Program, now in its fifth year, is one of our most rewarding programs.”

An exciting new addition for student-athletes this season was the implementation of the College Polo Tour. This exchange program between America and Argentina supported 21 collegiate polo players on a 7-day trip to Argentina for the opportunity to compete in both grass polo and arena polo, tour renowned Ellerstina Polo Club, attend one of the heart-stopping Argentine Polo Open Semi-Finals and more! Players from Yale University, Harvard University, Cornell University, and Georgetown University, alongside other Argentinean polo players, had the opportunity to experience this program in November 2022.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with U.S. Polo Assn. and all of the amazing opportunities available to our student-athletes,” said Liz Brayboy, Chair of the USPA’s Intercollegiate/ Interscholastic Committee. “We look forward to an exciting 2022/2023 Collegiate Polo Season and are grateful to have the support of the official brand of the United States Polo Association for these important polo programs across the United States.”

Partner of the Club since 2017, Engel & Völkers is one of the most renowned real estate agencies in the world and one of the leaders in the luxury real estate market. This year, they will bring the partnership to the next level with the Polo Club of the Domaine de Chantilly, by becoming the Title Sponsor of the French Open, which will be held from September 3 rd to 19 th in Apremont.

The French Open is the apotheosis of the French polo season. Created at the beginning of this century, this tournament has now become a must-have title for the great French and Argentinian professionals. For three weeks, the best French and European players, as well as emblematic polo figures in Argentina, will be competing on the grounds of the Chantilly Polo Club.

David Scheffler, Président Engel & Völkers France

After three years of co-sponsoring the Chantilly Polo Club, its tournaments and polo school, Engel & Völkers – european leader of luxury real estate – is pleased to become for the first time the title partner of the Open de France. Together with the Coupe d’Or in Deauville, the Open de France is the most important and the highest ranking tournament in the French polo calendar. The Engel & Völkers’ core values – passion, competence and exclusivity – are a perfect fit with the polo sport. It is therefore my pleasure to renew my confidence in Philippe Perrier, Benoît Perrier and Arnaud de Chenevarin, the new President of the Chantilly Polo Club. I am very much looking forward to associate our brand even more strongly with this amazing and very well organized event.

Arnaud de Chênevarin, Président Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly

From Hamburg…. to the Domaine de Chantilly! It’s a beautiful and rich story that started in 1977 in Hamburg. It’s the story of Engel & Völkers. Passion, competence, exclusivity are its values. Amongst obviously many other great qualities that they have, loyalty is one of which I highly appreciate. If the passion for our sport has led Engel & Völkers to the Domaine de Chantilly to become 3 years ago, the co-sponsor of the Chantilly polo club, its loyalty has definitely allowed us to build a true partnership. A partnership that will also be extended to the French Open, one of the most important polo tournaments in France. In addition to the values shared in common, Engel & Völkers and the Domaine de Chantilly Polo Club will be writing a new chapter in their joint history this year.

About Engel & Völkers :

The company is currently operating in over 30 countries on five continents. Intensive training schemes in its in-house real estate Academy and the high level of quality assurance governing its systematically structured service provision are key factors that account for the company’s success. The Engel & Völkers group recorded 14% growth in 2020 (937.4 million euros in 2020 vs. 820 million euros in 2019), a once again significant increase in turnover for the real estate group at the world level.

We were expecting a lot from Les Lions Panarea… and they didn’t let us down. In front of the boiling spectators, the team of the traditional British club, led by the American captain, Dillon Bacon, triumphed in the 20th edition of the French Open – a victory that will be forever staying as a grand cru, THE grand cru of this French tournament.

The Women’s French Open: tough win for Maison Décal

In the Women’s French Open, the Venot sisters and Caroline Anier were surely not expecting such a formidable resistance by DS Automobile DS Store St Maximin. After their heavy defeat during the qualification phase, Lia Savo organized a new strategy which is more defensive, allowing their team to lead during two chukkers, before losing at the end of the match, essentially because of the fouls whistled by the umpire against them.

A tiny difference of a goal and a half in conclusion. A small consolation prize for Lia Salvo, she could be the best scorer of this 9th edition of the Women’s French Open, firing 12 goals in 4 matches.

Progression Maison Décalé : 1/1 ½ – 2/2 ½  – 4/3 ½ – 6/4 ½

MVP : Elena Venot (Maison Décalé)

BPP : Bacana jouée par Lia Salvo

The French polo season resumed last week with the first official tournaments. In Chantilly, 2 titles were already awarded last weekend and polo will now return to a cruising speed, close to what it used to be in „the world before“. With its traditional high point: The French Open and the celebration of its 20th anniversary this year!

The French polo season resumed last week with the first official tournaments. In Chantilly, 2 titles were already awarded last weekend and polo will now return to a cruising speed, close to what it used to be in „the world before“. With its traditional high point: The French Open and the celebration of its 20th anniversary this year!

More than 400 horses currently live on the grounds of the Ferme d‘Apremont, where the Polo Club is located. 300 more will arrive in September for the French Open, during which 3 other important tournaments will take place, including the Women‘s French Open.

Because polo is played by both men and women, especially in Chantilly during the 2 tournaments exclusively dedicated to female players: the Ladies Cup in August and the prestigious French Open in September, attracting the best players in the world for the most important women‘s competition outside Argentina.

At least 6 teams are expected for each version of the French Open, represented by players from 10 nations. For the men‘s Open, it will be a special year: created in 2000, we will celebrate its 20th anniversary! In the past 2 decades, this prestigious tournament has welcomed many great names of the sport, including living legends who have won the most coveted title: the Argentine Open.

The French Open is also the last step of the French Triple Crown, after the Silver and Gold Cups of Deauville. So far, only one team has achieved this triple crown, the Argentinean team of Cibao La Pampa in 2017.

Live a polo experience, a sensational sport par excellence: breathtaking accelerations at the speed of a racehorse – in the open air at the heart of the forests of the Domaine de Chantilly. This is a sport open to the world, open to everyone.

Come and breathe the air of South America… only 45 minutes away from Paris! Discover Argentina and its gauchos, its horses on the 160 hectares of greenery of the Ferme d‘Apremont, and its delicacy in the restaurant Estancia, the little jewel of the Chantilly Polo Club. Share the great moments with family and friends, whether during a weekday match or on the days of the finals. This is the ultimate definition of, the glamourous “country chic”!

During these 3 weeks of tournaments in September, the Polo Club de Chantilly will become a cosmopolitan where everyone is welcome to join!

Despite the exceptional circumstances this year, the loyal partners of the Domaine de Chantilly Polo Club and its prestigious tournaments have decided to renew their support.
